Job description

Reports To: Design Documentation Manager

Exempt/Non-Exempt: Non-Exempt

Summary/Objective

Transform HVAC system design concepts into 3D models, detailed, accurate, and clear drawings. Create bills of materials lists incorporating weights and specifications essential for Engineering and Manufacturing purposes. Will be guided by information provided by Engineers and other stakeholders.

Job Description

Day to Day Tasks (primary responsibilities):

  • Designer – Supports Engineering new and existing projects from beginning through launch to ensure precise and accurate documentation and product precise drawings and models of piece parts and assemblies, detailed sketches and notes to meet engineering design standards while providing manufacturing specifications.
  • Incorporate all essential views and dimensions crucial for seamless manufacturing processes.
  • Create full top-level bill of material lists, ensuring accurate representation of material weights, quantities and specifications.
  • Create product changes on Engineering Change Notices through task system.
  • Collaborate with Engineers and participate in weekly planning meetings to further align CAD and Engineer throughout the project.
  • Actively participate in team collaboration, contributing to informed decision-making processes.
  • Manage multiple projects concurrently with some oversight, proficiently utilizing Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
  • Participate in team continuous improvement projects such as creating processes, design example drawings as well as engineering drafting standards and specifications.
  • Guide Interns or Junior designers.
Work Environment/Physical Requirements

The work environment for this role is typically an office setting, with occasional visits to various manufacturing sites. Ability to stand/walk during visits and be physically able to lift 25 Lbs. and adhere to safety protocols required.

Required Education and Work Experience
  • Associate's degree or technical certification in design or related field a plus.
  • 2–5 years of design experience.
  • Awareness of refrigeration system components a plus.
  • Expanding software toolkit, Adobe, Figma, 3DS Max etc.
  • Proficient in 2D/3D Autodesk Inventor or similar software.
  • Actively pursues additional training.
