Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner

Our organization is recognized as a prominent leader in the healthcare sector within the Phoenix region, known for exceptional leadership, innovation, and a commitment to the patients and communities we serve. We are among the largest physician groups in the Valley, comprising over 450 dedicated physicians and advanced practice providers, supported by around 100 skilled administrative and professional team members.

We are currently seeking an Interventional Radiology Nurse Practitioner to join our Radiology Department at Valleywise Health Medical Center. The IR NP will act as a physician extender, facilitating direct patient care through collaboration with referring physicians, interaction with allied hospital staff, and engagement with both inpatient and outpatient patients. This role aims to enhance the clinical presence of the section while working within a multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Order laboratory tests and radiographic studies, consulting with other services as necessary.
  • Provide direct patient care for both outpatient and inpatient settings, including obtaining medical histories, conducting physical examinations, performing pre- and post-procedural evaluations, documenting findings, securing informed consents, and conducting consultations and inpatient rounds.
  • Assess and treat illnesses, and evaluate patients in the Interventional Radiology Clinic.
  • Develop and manage comprehensive patient care plans, document progress, and assist with follow-up care.
  • Assist in the development, review, and management of referrals, performing thorough evaluations.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, referring physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding patient care coordination.
  • Possibility of conducting telemedicine or virtual health consultations.
  • Opportunity to evaluate patients at various Valleywise outpatient locations.
  • Utilize strong communication skills to manage patient and provider interactions regarding care coordination.
  • Educate patients about their medical conditions, treatments, and care plans, aiding in patient education and discharge processes.
  • Achieve proficiency in the Epic electronic medical record system.
  • Authorize medications and prescriptions as needed.
  • Engage in quality assurance and improvement initiatives for patient care, and potentially assist in training other healthcare team members.
  • Participate in clinical research as required.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in Interventional Radiology, Surgery, or Emergency Medicine is preferred.
