Assistant Superintendent
Lead an Elevator Modernization Project in Salinas
Location: Salinas, California
Schedule: Night Shift
Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Roebbelen Contracting is looking for an experienced Assistant Superintendent to lead daily field operations for a four-elevator modernization project in Salinas.
This is a full-time, permanent position with Roebbelen, not a temporary or project-based role. The initial Salinas assignment is expected to last approximately 12 months and will operate on a night-shift schedule. After the project is complete, the Assistant Superintendent will transition to another Roebbelen project based on business needs. Future assignments may be located throughout Northern California or Nevada.
This is an excellent opportunity for a confident field leader who can independently supervise trade partners and take ownership of day-to-day jobsite operations. You will maintain a safe and organized site, manage short-interval schedules, and ensure the work progresses according to project plans and specifications.
You will remain in daily communication with the assigned Senior Superintendent and receive ongoing support from experienced project leadership.
What You'll Do
  • Lead daily field operations for a four-elevator modernization project
  • Supervise and coordinate multiple trade partners and subcontractors
  • Maintain and enforce Roebbelen's site safety standards
  • Create and manage short-interval schedules
  • Coordinate manpower, materials, equipment, deliveries, and site logistics
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and project specifications
  • Monitor quality, productivity, and schedule compliance
  • Prepare accurate daily and weekly field reports
  • Communicate project progress, safety concerns, delays, and upcoming work to project leadership
  • Partner with the Superintendent, Project Manager, and Project Engineer
  • Support inspections, quality control, punch-list activities, and project closeout

What You'll Bring
  • Three or more years of experience as an Assistant Superintendent, Foreman, Senior Foreman, Field Engineer, or similar field leader
  • Experience independently supervising trade partners and managing daily field operations
  • Experience coordinating multiple trades on an active construction site
  • Strong understanding of construction safety, scheduling, field documentation, and quality control
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications
  • Experience creating and maintaining short-interval schedules
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with iPads, laptops, and standard construction management technology
  • Ability to work a night-shift schedule in Salinas for the approximately 12-month initial assignment
  • Willingness to travel to future project assignments based on company needs

Even Better If You Have
  • Experience with elevator modernization, occupied-facility renovations, or complex renovation work
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Experience using Procore, Bluebeam, Primavera P6, and Microsoft Office
  • A degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field
  • Flexibility to travel throughout Northern California and Nevada for future assignments

Why This Opportunity Stands Out
You will be trusted to independently manage daily field operations while receiving consistent support from experienced project leadership. This assignment offers the opportunity to take ownership of a specialized modernization project and strengthen your superintendent experience.
More importantly, your career with Roebbelen does not end when the Salinas project is complete. After the initial assignment, you will transition to another Roebbelen project based on company needs, providing continued opportunities to grow your career with our team.
Build What Matters with Roebbelen
At Roebbelen, our work is driven by strong relationships, dependable leadership, and a commitment to doing things the right way. If you are a safety-focused field leader who communicates clearly, stays ahead of the schedule, and takes pride in running an organized jobsite, we would like to hear from you.
Apply today to join Roebbelen as an Assistant Superintendent.
Roebbelen is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a culture of inclusion and belonging. We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories consistent with applicable law. Roebbelen does not sponsor employment-based visas now or in the future.
