Job description

Anesthesiologist Position at Angell Animal Medical Center

Angell Animal Medical Center (AAMC) in Boston, MA is seeking applicants for an Anesthesiologist. The AAMC Anesthesia department currently consists of two board-certified anesthesiologists and 35 highly trained anesthesia technicians. We are seeking a third anesthesiologist to help lead our enthusiastic team. The AAMC Anesthesia department provides anesthesia support for the entire hospital, and our relationship with the services we work with is uniquely collaborative. The successful candidate will be able to facilitate case flow while providing their expertise and support to the veterinary staff and their patients. In addition to attending to a bustling caseload, enthusiasm for teaching technical staff, interns, and residents is a must.

Applicants for this position must be board certified or have completed a residency in anesthesiology and be board certified or eligible for board certification. Angell has served the great Boston and New England area as a primary care facility, a 24-hour emergency hospital, and as a tertiary referral center for close to a century. Angell offers specialists in the areas of anesthesia, avian and exotic medicine, cardiology and cardiac surgery, dentistry, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, emergency and critical care, internal medicine, neurology and neurosurgery, nutrition, oncology and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, anatomic and clinical pathology, and surgery. Angell offers a state-of-the-art hospital containing a critical care unit, an avian/exotic ward, an intermediate care ward, numerous general care and isolation wards, a well-stocked blood bank, 7 surgical suites, a dentistry suite, cardiac cath lab, a Varian TrueBeam linear accelerator, hemodialysis/hemoperfusion, mechanical ventilation, and interventional radiology. Angell's Diagnostic Imaging Center has onsite MRI, CT, and fluoroscopy.

An attractive draw for this position includes the fact that AAMC is part of the MSPCA, one of the oldest and most respected humane organizations in the world. Working for a veterinary hospital that clearly delivers on its mission of advancing the health and welfare of animals adds a wonderful dimension to delivering high quality veterinary medicine. Angell is a 501 c3 non-profit and employment qualifies for the federal student loan Public Service Loan Forgiveness program (PSLF). Boston is the economic and cultural hub of New England. Considered a "walking city", Boston has something for everyone; theater, music, sports, shopping and culturally diverse restaurants. Boston is only 1 hour from beautiful beaches and as little as 2 hours from New England's great skiing and hiking areas. Boston is a very manageable and sophisticated city, offering its residents a comfortable, fulfilling lifestyle and it's the perfect place to practice as a veterinarian.

Our compensation package includes Blue Cross health insurance, dental, a 403(b) with an employer match, CE stipend and paid holidays and vacation. Interested individuals should forward a curriculum vitae, letter of intent, and names of three references to Kiko Bracker, DVM, DACVECC, at Angell Animal Medical Center, 350 South Huntington Ave. Boston, MA 02130 or to kbracker@mspca.org.
