Overview
Entry-Level Unreal Engine Simulation Software Developer
Overview
Electric Boat is seeking an entry-level software developer to support the development of interactive engineering simulations using Unreal Engine.
The selected candidate will develop Unreal Engine applications that provide visual and behavioral representations of shipboard systems and environments. Working alongside experienced engineers, the candidate will integrate simulation models and contribute to reusable simulation components supporting multiple engineering projects.
This position is well suited for recent graduates interested in real-time simulation, game engine technologies, and software development for complex engineering systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Develop simulation applications using Unreal Engine and C++.
  • Create Unreal Engine components and reusable simulation assets.
  • Develop virtual representations of equipment, controls, displays, and operating environments.
  • Integrate system and equipment simulation models into Unreal Engine.
  • Connect Unreal Engine applications to external software models and interfaces.
  • Develop operator controls, engineering displays, and interactive user interfaces.
  • Import and optimize CAD models, animations, and engineering data for real-time visualization.
  • Implement coordinate-system conversions, spatial transformations, and system-state visualizations.
  • Troubleshoot software, graphics, and simulation integration issues.
  • Collaborate with software, systems, and simulation engineers to implement project requirements.
  • Document software designs and model interfaces.

Qualifications
Required:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or Computer Engineering
  • 0-5 years of post-graduate engineering experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain up to a Top Secret security clearance.

Preferred:
  • Experience with Unreal Engine 5.
  • Experience with C++ obtained through coursework, internships, or personal projects.
  • Understanding of object-oriented programming concepts.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine through academic, internship, or personal development experience.
  • Experience developing Unreal Engine projects using C++ and Blueprints.
  • Coursework or project experience involving simulations, graphics programming, or game development.
  • Familiarity with software integration concepts and networking fundamentals.
  • Familiarity with 3D mathematics, coordinate systems, and physics concepts.
  • Experience using Git or other version control tools.
  • Active Security Clearance
