Job Description

.Position: Sustainability Ambassador (Internship)

UNCW Dining Sustainability is seeking student interns to serve as Sustainability Ambassadors for the Fall
2025 semester. This is an excellent opportunity to participate in hands-on sustainability initiatives within
campus dining and gain experiential knowledge in food service sustainability.
Our programs include multi-stream waste diversion, microgreens and shoots, aquaponics, environmental
certifications and grants, and sustainability education initiatives.

Job Responsibilities

•    - Maintain microgreens and shoots (planting, watering, harvesting)
- Monitor aquaponics system (water quality testing)
- Assist with sustainability outreach events (setup, breakdown, student engagement)
- Support waste-related initiatives
- Generate social media content
- Perform general office assistance and research

Qualifications

•    Previous custodial experience preferred
•    Frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling greater than 50 lbs.
•    Must be able to follow basic safety procedures and precautions due to physical risks and exposure to hazardous chemicals

 This role may have physical demands including, but not limited to, lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing. This role may also require uniforms and/or usage of Personal Protective equipment (PPE).

- Self-motivated, flexible, and quick to learn
- Currently enrolled at UNCW
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills
- Interest and/or experience in sustainability, food service, or food systems
- Comfortable speaking with peers and working in group settings
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
