Job description

The purpose of the Phlebotomist Coordinator position is to oversee the phlebotomy and specimen collection in the clinic services and the hospital, in addition to the routine phlebotomy duties of obtaining specimens from patients of all ages with care and concern for patient’s welfare and safety. The Phlebotomist Coordinator will assist the laboratory in preparing specimens for analysis and perform various clerical duties of the laboratory under direct supervision.

Come join our exciting Laboratory department! Our team is on the front line of diagnosis and we strive to provide exceptional service to the patients we serve. Our staff and our patients benefit from our highly-automated, 24/7 core lab coverage.  Our scope of practice is extremely comprehensive, including the following: hematology, coagulation, microbiology, transfusion services, chemistry and special chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, and histology. We also pride ourselves on helping up-and-coming lab professionals get their start by being a training site for phlebotomy and MLT interns. We are looking for hard-working, dedicated individuals to join our team!

Compensation
The hourly wage range for this position is, $18.90 - $25.31. Please note that final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications and internal equity considerations.

Education/Special Skills: Degree from a Phlebotomy program which includes an appropriate internship under the direction of a pathologist in an approved laboratory; or previous experience or education in a health-related field. Ability to communicate in English effectively, both orally and in writing. Ability to operate laboratory equipment, such as centrifuge, microscope and computer keyboard/word processor equipment. Ability to follow detailed blood collection and lab procedures and train for new procedures as needed. Must satisfactorily complete on-the-job training/orientation.
  2. Successful completion of the pre-employment health screening process required.
  3. Mental Demands: Requires the ability to: perform at an independent level with minimal direction; exercise good judgement and initiative; problem solve and make decisions in a variety of situations.
  4. Must be able to attend work site per schedule. Duties may require limited amount of non-scheduled overtime hours as workload requires.
  5. Must be able to work independently.
  6. Valid driver’s license and able to drive vehicle to remote sites.
