Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU position requiring 2 years of current ICU experience and Epic proficiency.

Details

• Surgical ICU (SICU) unit at a cancer hospital and research facility
• Adult oncology and surgical critical care patient population
• 13-week assignment on a rotating day/night or night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 19:00-7:30)
• Shift assignments reviewed every 4-week scheduling period based on staffing needs
• Manages patients with hemorrhagic/hypovolemic/septic shock, sepsis, pneumonia, ARDS, craniotomy, ischemic/hemorrhagic stroke, intracranial hypertension, and delirium
• Performs external ventricular drain management, ICP monitoring, massive transfusion protocol, mechanical ventilation, and CRRT
• Utilizes heated high flow, BiPAP, CPAP, and manages tracheostomy patients
• Titrates vasopressors and other critical care medications
• Uses Epic EMR (required)

Requirements

• Active OH or compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of current ICU experience required in the applying specialty within the last 12 months
• Oncology experience preferred but not required
• Nursing education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Skilled in arterial line, central line, and PICC line management
• Experienced in blood product administration and IV therapy
• Proficient in ventilator management and interpretation of ABGs
• Skilled in CVVHD/CRRT and continuous IV sedation administration
• Experienced in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Skilled in CVA/acute stroke management and multisystem organ dysfunction care
• Experienced with IV insulin protocols and emergency medication administration

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex surgical and oncology ICU patients
• First-time travelers are not accepted for this role
• Locals accepted at the same rate
• Two professional references required, at least one from a manager/director or supervisor; a Charge RN may serve as the second reference; coworker references are not accepted
• RTO must be submitted with application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
• Former employees eligible for travel assignment after 6 months away from the facility
• Current employees are ineligible for a travel assignment at this health system
• Candidates must complete Ohio fingerprinting promptly after signing the contract due to strict compliance deadlines
