Job description

PURPOSE

Gain industry and organizational knowledge through daily business interactions and hands-on project assignments while supporting the Cyber Security team. The Cyber Security Intern will work under direct supervision to develop technical and professional skills through meaningful projects that contribute to the organization's security posture. This internship is designed to provide real-world experience in cybersecurity operations, security hardening initiatives, and metrics development while offering exposure to enterprise-level information security practices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with various projects in support of the Cyber Security department.
  • Support cybersecurity hardening initiatives designed to strengthen the organization's security posture.
  • Gather, organize, analyze, and report data related to cybersecurity metrics, key performance indicators, and departmental initiatives.
  • Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and knowledge-sharing activities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project goals and security-related business objectives.
  • Research emerging cybersecurity threats, trends, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Assist with documentation, process improvement efforts, and security-related reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver a final presentation summarizing project accomplishments, key findings, recommendations, and lessons learned.
  • Gain exposure to real-world cybersecurity operations and enterprise security frameworks.

 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and abilities required.

  • Must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Cyber Security, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Prefer Junior or Senior level, but will consider other academic levels.
  • GPA of 3.0 or higher preferred.
  • Demonstrated interest in Cyber Security and Information Technology.
  • Strong desire to learn and develop technical and professional skills in a collaborative environment.

COMPETENCIES

  • Strong oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people and cross-functional teams.
  • Comfortable interacting with stakeholders and building professional relationships.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Understanding of Cyber Security concepts, principles, and best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret and present data.
  • Ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn new technologies and security concepts.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Coursework or practical experience related to Cyber Security or Information Technology.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity frameworks, security controls, or risk management concepts.
  • Experience with data analysis, metrics development, and reporting.
  • Strong presentation skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Experience working on team projects in academic or extracurricular settings.
