Travel: Surg Tech (451565)

Location: Springfield 1235 E Cherokee St Springfield, Missouri 65804

Job Type: 13 Weeks Contract Timing: 10:30 am โ€“ 11 pm am

Shift Option #1: 3x12

Overview

Provide direct patient care under the direct supervision of the surgeon, and the circulating Registered Nurse consistent with the established standards of practice, the goals of Mercy Health, the philosophy of the Sister's of Mercy and the Employee Code of Conduct. Efficiently set-up surgical cases in multiple specialty disciplines, providing equipment and supplies based on patient needs and surgeon preference. Demonstrate technical skills related to: creating and maintaining a sterile field; performing instrument, sponge, and sharp counts; and assisting other OR staff per patient safety and direct patient care policies. Functions as resource person for newly hired Surgical Technicians and students of visiting Surgical Technology schools. Performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education: Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist course.

Licensure: None required.

Experience: Significant amount of Surgical Technologist experience in a hospital setting.

Certifications: Must have a current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider card

Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • May be required to work differing schedules, shifts, days of the week, or work frequency of the week, or work frequency according to patient requirements.
Working Conditions, Mental and Physical Requirements
  • Stand and walk most of the time on duty.
  • Lift/ push patients on stretchers.
  • Lift/Push equipment and instrument sets.
  • Must have good working knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, sets, and equipment.
  • Work with contaminated instruments and equipment.
  • Requires strict adherence to Universal Precautions.
  • Must be able to work in fast-paced environment with occasional high-stress situations.
  • Will be required to work "on call" shifts.
