Position Description
As an Intern at BEAR Construction, you will gain hands-on experience in the dynamic field of construction, with exposure to civil, renewable energy (RE), and solar-related infrastructure projects. This internship program is designed to provide valuable insight into the construction industry, particularly within Civil Engineering, Construction Management, and Renewable/Solar Energy project environments.
You will work closely with our experienced team, contribute to active projects, and develop a strong foundation in construction management and operations while supporting both office-based and field activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Monitor compliance with applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance standards, and company procedures
  • Coordinate the procurement of permits and schedule inspections with local jurisdictions
  • Support the project team in developing bid packages, scopes of work, construction schedules, and site utilization plans
  • Assist in driving and implementing project goals as a core member of the team
  • Learn and utilize company software and systems as required
  • Manage and maintain document control processes, including submittals and Requests for Information (RFIs)
  • Collaborate with the project team to track and expedite materials, deliveries, and equipment
  • Prepare and distribute meeting agendas and minutes
  • Assist in preparing internal and external reports on project status
  • Support project close-out activities, including punch list management
  • Assist Project Managers in planning and executing construction projects
  • Work with field teams to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and on schedule
  • Support procurement efforts, including material and equipment coordination
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, including drawings and reports
  • Contribute to project scheduling and budgeting efforts
  • Adhere to and promote all safety protocols and regulations

Position Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Currently enrolled or have an interest in a relevant degree program (e.g., Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Renewable Energy, Solar Engineering, or a related field)
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and follow up on multiple priorities
  • Team-oriented with a proactive and results-driven mindset
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, staff, vendors, and clients
  • High level of attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and other standard software
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interest in the construction, renewable energy, or solar industries
  • Basic knowledge of construction processes and terminology is a plus
  • Reliable, motivated, and eager to learn

PROGRAM DETAILS
Duration
This internship is an 8-week program, with the potential for extension based on performance and business needs.
Working Hours
Interns are expected to work full-time hours, Monday through Friday, during standard business hours. Exact schedules may vary based on project needs and field assignments.
Location & Travel Requirements
This position is based both on-site and in the field.
Travel up to 50 miles may be required, therefore a reliable mode of transportation is required.
