Job description

ASRC Federal is seeking a qualified Technical Writer to support a DoDEA client headquartered in Alexandria, VA. Position is fully onsite.


Position Summary:

The Technical Writer will support the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Information Technology Division by producing high-quality technical documentation that contributes to the overall success of cybersecurity and IT operations. This role is responsible for preparing, reviewing, editing, and maintaining various technical documents including policies, procedures, manuals, and service catalogs. The writer will collaborate with IT and cybersecurity teams to ensure documentation aligns with DoDEA and DoD standards.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain policy and guidance documentation, including IT Directives (ITODs), Administrative Instructions (AIs), manuals, memos, procedural guides, and regulations.
  • Ensure all documentation is error-free, formatted accurately, stored in a centralized repository, and compliant with project quality and assurance standards.
  • Organize content logically and clearly; coordinate the layout and structure of technical documents according to prepared outlines and specifications.
  • Create diagrams, illustrations, and figures to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Develop, draft, and edit technical documents, including service catalogs, service-level agreements (SLAs), and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure consistent use of language and formatting across all deliverables.
  • Collaborate with cybersecurity and IT subject matter experts to gather content and verify technical accuracy.
  • Support the submission of documentation required by the Program Management Plan (PMP) and monthly/weekly reporting.

 


Required Qualifications:

  • Active SECRET security clearance.
  • Requires a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 0-2 years of experience in a related or applicable field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience collecting, organizing, and producing documentation for the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
  • Strong written communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and documentation tools.

 

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active SECRET security clearance required.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and meet DoD ADP Level II requirements.
