CONTROLS ENGINEER - 2nd SHIFT
AUBURN HILLS, MI
As a member of the Auburn Hills team, the Controls Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing program changes to reduce machine downtime and improve system efficiency. Support department goals as established. As well as responsible for maintaining machinery systems in a J.I.T. or complex assembly plant environment.
The Role:
  • Develops and implements software and hardware changes to improve efficiency and quality.
  • Troubleshooting and programming of PLC's to resolve problems, improve efficiency and quality.
  • Instruct and coordinate the activities of all personnel in the department to maintain top efficiency and productivity.
  • Contact and coordinate work with outside contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Work with other departments to ensure optimal performance of production line.
  • Implement improvement plans and activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of part specific parameters and changes.
  • Requisition tools, equipment and supplies.
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining adequate parts and supplies to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain accurate records of machines and other assets with regards to repair, drawings, diagrams and manuals and preventive maintenance program.
  • Assist in launch programs as necessary.
  • Responsible for housekeeping of area.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities and self directed work team model.
  • Follow ISO14001 and TS16949 procedures/processes.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Interpret and enforce company policies and safety regulations.
  • Ensure plant security is maintained.

Your Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (BAS); three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with PLC's required (ControlLogix, MicroLogix, and CompactLogix - Rockwell software) - must be able to understand ladder logic and make programming changes. Siemens programming experience a plus.
  • Experienced in programming of HMI's (Panelview, etc)
  • Experience with automation equipment (Fanuc / ABB Robots and Vision Systems).
  • Experience with electric torque control equipment (Atlas Copco / Stanley)

Bonus If You Have:
  • Automated Guided Vehicles (AGV/AMR) experience
  • Mentor and Train plant controls engineers and support production as needed.
  • Communicate across cross functional groups
  • Support Kaizen, Improvement walks, and Error proofing projects
  • Willingness to work any shift and support off-shift production, shutdowns, and launch activities.
