Job description

Job Title: Lead Robotic Welding Programmer / Welder

Pay: $24 - $29/hr

Shift: 6am - Monday - Friday

Job Description

This role combines advanced robotic welding programming with hands-on welding and fabrication in a dynamic manufacturing environment. You will take ownership of weld quality, efficiency, and continuous improvement rather than performing basic or repetitive production welding. The position focuses on programming and optimizing robotic welding processes, troubleshooting weld issues, and supporting teammates with proper welding techniques and standards on large-scale mechanical assemblies and heavy-duty components.

Responsibilities

  • Program, operate, and continuously improve robotic welding processes using an industrial robotic welding cell.
  • Set, adjust, and optimize welding parameters using an Axcess 450 or similar welding power source to achieve consistent, high-quality welds.
  • Apply robotic welding concepts such as touch sensing, seam tracking, weld path adjustment, and fixture repeatability to ensure accurate and repeatable welds.
  • Troubleshoot weld quality issues including fit-up gaps, porosity, undercut, cold lap, penetration problems, spatter, and inconsistent bead appearance, and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead and support teammates on proper welding techniques, weld standards, and robotic welding best practices to elevate overall weld quality.
  • Work with mild steel components, heavy-duty mechanisms, wheel-related assemblies, and other large-scale mechanical structures.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to increase weld quality, reduce rework, improve throughput, and enhance safety and efficiency in the production process.
  • Assist with fixture setup, part fit-up, machine checks, and quality inspections to ensure parts meet specifications and standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, ensuring tools, fixtures, and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
  • Follow OSHA safety standards and internal safety procedures at all times while operating welding and fabrication equipment.
  • Support other fabrication and production tasks as needed, including working with CNC equipment, drill presses, lathes, and other manufacturing machinery.

Essential Skills

  • At least 4 years of welding experience.
  • Hands-on MIG welding experience with mild steel.
  • Robotic welding experience, including operating and adjusting robotic welding systems.
  • Ability to program or adjust weld parameters using an Axcess 450 or similar welding power source.
  • Understanding of robotic welding concepts such as touch sensing and seam tracking.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot weld defects and implement process improvements.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and comfort working with large-scale assemblies and heavy-duty components.
  • Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement, quality, safety, and productivity.
  • Ability and willingness to learn company-specific products and welding standards and to help lead teammates in applying them.
  • Physical ability to stand, lift, bend, and perform manual tasks throughout the shift.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Welding certification is preferred but not required.
  • Experience with robotic welding systems is preferred.
  • Experience programming or adjusting weld parameters with an Axcess 450 or similar welding power source is preferred.
  • Understanding of touch sensing and seam tracking is strongly preferred.
  • Experience with CNC equipment, drill presses, lathes, robotic welders, industrial lasers, or other manufacturing machinery is a plus.
  • Forklift certification is preferred but not required.

Pay and Benefits
