Job description

Join to apply for the Technical Product Manager role at Pearson

We are the world’s leading learning company with more than 21,000 employees operating in 70 countries. We combine world-class educational content and assessment, powered by services and technology, to enable more effective teaching and personalized learning at scale. We believe that wherever learning flourishes, so do people.

Pearson is seeking a Technical Product Manager to lead the design, development, and innovation of one or more platforms within the School Assessments next‑generation product ecosystem. This position reports to the Head, Data and Reporting Technology.

What You Will Do
  • Bring clarity of vision and forward‑thinking product ideas to get our engineering teams excited.
  • Create strong alliances with diverse stakeholders, communicating in appropriate ways to gather requirements and communicate necessary responses, solutions and timelines.
  • Collaborate with other product managers and development teams, since much of what we do cuts across multiple platforms.
  • Constantly weigh the relative priority of each incoming problem to ensure the team is focused and making progress on the right work.
  • Utilize daily problem‑solving, collaboration and communication skills to identify problems, find and present potential solutions, and translate solutions into requirements for the engineering team to execute.
  • Map out, communicate and manage the product release schedule, coordinating with customer needs and development team readiness. For each release, provide release documentation and product information sufficient to support project teams with client implementations and support.
  • Start each day with a scrum, working with a team of 2–5 developers, a QA analyst, a UX designer, and yourself. In your daily scrum, support the team in successfully delivering your story requirements.
  • Although you don't need to code in this role, you must know how to communicate with engineers and other technologists, giving them confidence you understand their challenges. Our best product managers translate easily between technical and non‑technical teams, ensuring both parties are clearly understood.
To Succeed In This Role
  • Have a Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent.
  • Have a deep understanding of technology, to communicate with cross‑functional team members.
  • Have experience working in JIRA, Confluence and SharePoint for planning, documentation and tracking.
  • Have a proven track record of thriving in a fast‑paced software development team, and/or 8+ years in the education technology space.
  • Have a solid background in stakeholder management and basic agile methodology.

Applications will be accepted through December 11. This window may be extended depending on business needs.

Compensation at Pearson is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific location. The full‑time salary range for this position is between $125,000 – $140,000.

This position is eligible to participate in an annual incentive program, and information on benefits offered is here.
