Hanover Research - Qualitative Researcher - Part-Time Temporary Opportunity (Non-Exempt)

Arlington, VA

Remote Opportunity

Hanover Research is seeking an independent Qualitative Research Temp to collaborate with our seasoned in-house qualitative team on a project-by-project basis. Supporting clients across higher education, you will be responsible only for conducting interviews, moderating focus groups, analyzing data, and creating reports for our qualitative studies.

Working alongside our in-house Higher Education Qualitative Research team, you will interview participants one-on-one in our in-depth interview studies or moderate virtual focus groups for our higher education clients, supporting the data collection efforts. In addition, you will analyze the findings of each study, incorporating the results into a report, delivering actionable insights that drive strategic decisions. As an independent contractor, you will have the flexibility of project-based work while partnering with a Top 50 market research firm.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct and record interviews/focus groups with anyone relevant to our research in the education sectors we serve.

  • Provide Teams or Zoom transcripts and recordings of the interviews (Teams) and focus groups (Zoom).

  • Identify actionable insights and synthesize into a clear, concise report independently.

  • Design interview and focus group protocols independently, as applicable.

  • Redact and distribute reports, as applicable.

Qualifications

  • Full cycle experience executing in-depth-interview studies, from writing interview guides to synthesizing insights and delivering decision-ready reports.

  • Ability to conduct 30-minute qualitative interviews over the phone, conduct 60-minute or 90-minute focus groups over Zoom, and upload the Teams or Zoom transcripts along with recordings. High comfort level with Microsoft Office applications, such as Word, Excel, and Power Point.

    • High comfort level with using generative AI tools is a plus.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, juggle multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines in a remote environment. Skill and attributes that demonstrate this might include.

    • Willingness to tackle complex, often unfamiliar research requests.

    • Experience interacting professionallyover the phone or videoconference software.

    • High comfort level speaking with industry experts and C-level executives over the phone.

    • Experience conducting telephone interviews or telephone sales.

    • Ability to work quickly and independently with minimal guidance or oversight.

    • Ability to work under pressure and multitask in a fast-paced environment.

    • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Experience writing and researching for a business or professional audience.

    • Strong command of the English language

    • Ability to accept feedback and constructive critique positively.

    • Demonstrable problem-solving skills.

    • Extremely strong and demonstrable work ethic.

Education Requirement

A Master's degree in Anthropology, Sociology, Psychology, Political Science or other social science or a Bachelor's degree and 2-4 years of applied market research experience is preferred.
Experience Requirement

2 - 4 years of business or academic experience conducting qualitative research. Applied market research experience is preferred.
