Job description

International Health Alliance (IHA) offers unique internships that are designed not just for academic enhancement but for cultivating a deep-seated passion for healthcare and humanitarian service. We believe that healthcare should be an accessible right for everyone, even in the most impoverished areas of the world. Our interns have the opportunity to not only stand out for graduate school admissions and career applications but, more importantly, to help people around the world that are in critical need of medical care.

Our Global Research Program (Remote Track) is a unique opportunity for students to combine research design, data analysis, and real-world healthcare exposure. Over ten weeks, participants will work alongside medical professionals to develop their own research questions, design structured data collection tools (such as surveys and questionnaires), and contribute to improving access to healthcare in low-resource communities. Unlike traditional programs, participants in this track will focus on the design and analysis components of research, while IHA's on-the-ground medical teams in the Dominican Republic implement these tools and collect real-world data during mobile clinics.

Students will then work with this dataset to interpret findings and contribute to research outputs. This internship is unpaid. Program Duration: 10 Weeks Overview: 10 Weeks Remote Training and Research Experience: Dive into a structured curriculum delivered through 2-hour live and recorded online sessions each week.

You will be assigned a dedicated doctor for personalized guidance, ensuring a supportive and enriching learning experience. Weeks 1–5: Learn research fundamentals, develop your research question, and design your data collection tools (surveys/questionnaires). Weeks 6–10: Work with real-world data collected by IHA's on-the-ground medical teams in the Dominican Republic.

Analyze results, interpret findings, and contribute to research outputs such as abstracts and presentations. Field Implementation (Conducted by IHA Team): Mobile Clinics: IHA's medical teams conduct mobile clinics in underserved communities, where your designed data collection tools are implemented. Data is gathered in real clinical settings while providing care to individuals who otherwise may not have access to healthcare.

This allows you to contribute to meaningful, real-world research without the need to travel, while still making a direct impact on communities in need. Why Choose Our Program? Remote Training Support: Structured online curriculum with live and recorded sessions.

Real-World Research Experience: Work with data collected in active clinical settings in underserved communities. Mentorship: Learn directly from physicians and healthcare professionals. Professional Benefits: Receive letters of recommendation, alumni benefits, social media recognition, networking opportunities, and access to future professional development and educational courses.

Unique Opportunity: Gain hands-on research experience while contributing to improving healthcare access globally. Research Impact & Opportunities While publication is not guaranteed, IHA has a strong track record of academic contribution: Research has been presented at international conferences, including Cochrane Posters have been selected as winners at international conferences Multiple projects have progressed to publication Participants may have the opportunity to contribute to abstracts, posters, and manuscripts depending on project outcomes and involvement. By the end of the program, you will have: Designed a research question and data collection instruments Contributed to a real-world data collection project Analyzed and interpreted clinical data Developed skills in research methodology and presentation Built a strong foundation for future academic and professional opportunities Program Dates: This program is fully remote and offered in multiple cohorts throughout the year.

Specific start dates will be provided upon acceptance. Requirements No previous medical or research experience is necessary. We provide all necessary training and you will be under the supervision of licensed doctors.

Ability to work in a team setting Strong interest in healthcare, research, or public health Interns are responsible for the costs of medical and program supplies Must be 16 years or older Don't miss the chance to secure your spot in this unique program that offers a meaningful, flexible, and impactful research experience. Apply today and be part of a mission to improve healthcare access around the world.
