Location: This is a hybrid role based out of our client's office in Centennial, CO. Hybrid requires onsite work Monday and Tuesday and allows for remote work Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday.
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a Software Developer II/III to join our team in Centennial, CO in a contract-to-hire capacity. This role is ideal for a skilled software engineer who enjoys solving complex technical challenges, modernizing legacy applications, and delivering high-quality desktop software solutions.
The successful candidate will design, develop, and maintain business-critical applications using Microsoft technologies while collaborating with product owners, software developers, QA analysts, and business stakeholders. In addition to strong technical skills, this individual will be comfortable leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to improve code quality, development efficiency, and team productivity. The role also includes mentoring team members, contributing to technical direction, and helping drive continuous improvement across our engineering practices.
This team develops software used by engineers, architects, designers, and construction professionals to analyze and specify structural building solutions. This role offers the opportunity to work on challenging technical problems involving engineering calculations, geometric modeling, visualization, and software modernization.
Job Responsibilities
Software Engineering Delivery
  • Design, develop, test, and maintain desktop software solutions aligned to business requirements and architectural standards.
  • Deliver scalable, high-performance, cost-effective, and secure solutions using modern engineering practices.
  • Participate in full SDLC activities including requirements clarification, solution design, implementation, testing, deployment, and support.
Modern Engineering Practices
  • Leverage modern development tools and practices, including AI-assisted coding tools (GitHub Copilot, LLM-based coding assistants), to improve quality, test coverage, and delivery efficiency.
  • Help establish practical standards for responsible AI usage, including output validation, secure coding practices, and appropriate engineering oversight.
  • Identify opportunities to improve developer productivity, documentation quality, and code maintainability through automation and AI-assisted workflows.
Technical Leadership and Collaboration
  • Provide technical guidance to peers and mentor junior developers.
  • Conduct code reviews and enforce coding standards, testing standards, and best practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with product owners, analysts, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into robust technical solutions.
  • Communicate technical concepts and tradeoffs clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
Legacy Support and Modernization
  • Support and enhance legacy applications while defining incremental modernization paths.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Evaluate tools, frameworks, and patterns that improve reliability, developer experience, and delivery outcomes.
  • Participate in long-term modernization efforts that improve maintainability, security, performance, and developer productivity while preserving critical business functionality.
Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience
  • 5+ years of relevant software development experience, or an equivalent combination of education and professional experience.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade applications using the Microsoft technology stack.
Required Qualifications
  • Proficiency in .NET development using C#, QL Server, and Windows-based application development, with experience supporting both desktop and web-based applications.
  • Experience with Azure DevOps for source control and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Experience performing code reviews and enforcing coding standards and best practices.
  • Strong troubleshooting and defect resolution skills.
  • Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
  • Self-starter with a growth mindset and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Experience developing software that creates, manipulates, analyzes, or visualizes 2D or 3D geometric models.
  • Strong mathematics background.
AI-Focused Preferred Qualifications
  • Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants in professional software development workflows.
  • Experience integrating AI-enabled capabilities into applications (for example: summarization, extraction, search, or conversational workflows) using enterprise-approved services.
  • Familiarity with prompt design, output evaluation, and practical safeguards for secure, responsible use of generative AI in software delivery.
  • Experience improving engineering throughput using AI-assisted approaches to coding, testing, documentation, or debugging.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Academic instruction or background in structural/civil engineering.
  • Exposure to engineering analysis software, construction drawings, and/or layout design.

Pay Range: $60.00 - $65.00 per hour, depending upon experience.
