Summary:

Founders First Community Development Corporation (FFCDC) is seeking an organized, mission-driven individual to assist in the research, sourcing, writing, and management of grant proposals, overseeing donor databases, coordinating beneficiary events, in-kind donation oversight, and assisting with community outreach, special events, and other projects. 

Founders First has developed a scalable model with demonstrated results to close socio-economic equity gaps by training, funding, and growing small businesses started, owned, and operated by diverse founders.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provides administration for the grants process throughout all stages including receiving, assessing, tracking, payment/check requests, documenting all inquiries and/or proposals; assuring that submitted documentation meets all Foundation and legal requirements; and maintaining accurate and timely records of Foundation grant-making and other programmatic activities.
  • Assist with the pre-award due diligence, ensuring all documentation has been provided and electronic records completed, including important compliance checks.
  • Participate in a bi-monthly grant payment process by reviewing all payment and grant requirement records to ensure the required information and documentation have been submitted and status updated.
  • Conduct compliance and audit checks of grants across entities. Assist with the creation of reports for the Board, senior leadership, and other departments as needed.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of grant administration policies and procedures and make recommendations for revised practices to create efficiencies
  • Assist the Grants Management team in its review of grants for compliance with IRS and foundation-specific regulations
  • Participate in special projects related to the continuous improvement of grants management processes and systems
  • Monitor the integrity of information in the grants management database system and communicate recommended database changes to staff and grantees
  • Supports the organization's finance, fundraising, and communication functions; generates requested information, data, and reports from information maintained in the grants management database or other sources of information.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in submission and administration of grants for major national and regional funders (family offices, philanthropic foundations,and corporations)
  • Experience researching, sourcing, and receiving awards of six and seven figure grants
  • Exposure to the nonprofit sector/working knowledge of nonprofit organizations with preferred experience with grantmaking
  • Experience working in database systems, ideally a grants management system, including the ability to complete complex queries, merge data, create templates and reports, and document processes (CRM systems such as Salesforce, DonorPerfect & Bloomerang preferred)
  • Experience in managing portfolios of foundations, family offices, and corporate philanthropy, highly desirable
  • Highly organized and motivated
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and commitment to addressing societal inequities
  • Creative problem solver; resourceful and proactive in seeking technical and/or procedural improvements
  • Strong sense of integrity, discretion, and trustworthiness, able to maintain the highest level of confidentiality both internally and externally
  • Ability to take initiative and manage projects assigned through completion with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work effectively independently and as a highly resourceful team player under pressure and within deadlines.

Work Location: This is a fully remote position. The organization is headquartered in San Diego, and the employee can work from there if desired. Preference is for a candidate in the Dallas TX or San Diego region.  We run a hybrid work environment and for the right candidate will accept other regions.

 

Travel: Occasional travel to conferences & training

 

Job Type: Full-time, non-exempt

 

Compensation: $70,000-$80,000 depending on experience; Benefits including company holidays, health, dental, and other employer-sponsored benefits.
