Job Summary:
This role blends systems management with communications and marketing to support and the rapid growth of existing UW Connects programs. The position also supports the Director and leadership with implementation of marketing, communications and systems for a new statewide outreach consortium.
This position will oversee marketing and communications for Badger Talks and Bucky's Classroom programs, including student marketing interns, and will help implement a consistently branded outreach identity to unify the university's outreach efforts, build internal and external communication systems that connect campus with each other as well as the state, and contribute fresh ideas on how UW-Madison can most effectively package and share the thousands of offerings and resources offered to communities across Wisconsin.
Key Job Responsibilities:
  • Hire, train and manage marketing interns (15%)
  • Develops, implements, and disseminates marketing materials through various communication mediums utilizing appropriate technologies and techniques (40%)
  • Collects, analyzes, prepares, summarizes, and disseminates data and trends relevant to ongoing or future marketing activities (10%)
  • Develops, implements, and maintains strategic marketing plans based on research and established strategies (5%)
  • Oversee equipment maintenance, order program supplies, and office supply purchasing recommendations (5%)
  • Develop and maintain systems and workflows to support marketing, communication and data collection (25%)

Work Schedule/Location:
Monday-Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm
This is a hybrid position, with the expectation of 3 days per week on-site and 2 days of remote work per week.
Compensation:
The minimum annual salary for this position is $48,107. The expected salary for well-qualified candidates is $56,000.

Required Qualifications:
  • 2+ years of experience in marketing, communications, digital media, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience managing social media channels for an organization, including content planning, scheduling, analytics, and audience growth.
  • Proven professional content creation skills, including writing, editing, and producing digital assets (graphics, short videos, newsletters, press releases, announcements, reports, email content, web copy).
  • Experience with marketing software systems such as email automation systems, social media management software, marketing automation systems, etc.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, with strong organizational systems and attention to detail.
  • Experience producing or supporting branded materials, including templates, style guides, and visual assets.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Familiarity with marketing analytics tools (Google Analytics, social media insights, email metrics) and the ability to interpret and share data to guide decisions.
  • Experience with data visualization or out of the box mapping tools (ArcGIS, Tableau, or similar is a plus.)
  • Experience with workflow automation tools (Zapier, AI content tools, or similar).
  • Experience managing websites using a CMS such as WordPress or similar platforms.
  • Project management experience
  • Experience working with or managing students

Education:
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
