Electrical Systems & Reliability Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Electrical Systems & Reliability Engineer to support mid-sized projects and technical operations within the oil and energy sector. This role is ideal for a results-oriented engineering professional who excels at improving the operational reliability of electrical infrastructure, managing condition-based maintenance programs, and ensuring robust safety and compliance standards.

The successful candidate will operate with a high degree of technical autonomy, executing multifaceted engineering assignments while collaborating cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement and maintain operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities Electrical Infrastructure & Reliability
  • Repair and improve the operational reliability of facility electrical infrastructure and diverse voltage systems.
  • Develop, implement, and complete comprehensive equipment condition-based maintenance (CBM) programs.
  • Support electrical equipment outages and coordinate scheduled maintenance to restore or upgrade plant assets.
  • Maintain, review, and update critical electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, and wiring schematics.
Safety, Compliance & Projects
  • Coordinate and review facility arc flash studies, implementing remediation plans and safety improvements based on study findings.
  • Perform meticulous electrical reviews of Management of Change (MOC) plans and operational work plans.
  • Supervise and coordinate third-party contractors to ensure field execution aligns with project timelines and technical specifications.
  • Interpret internal/external customer needs, assess technical requirements, and deliver innovative engineering solutions.
  • Champion rigorous safety standards, ensuring full compliance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), organization policies, and governing agency guidelines.
Position Requirements Must-Have Qualifications
  • Education: Bachelor's Degree in a relevant Engineering field (ideally Electrical Engineering) from an accredited institution OR a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering Technology paired with an active Professional Engineer (P.E.) license.
  • Experience: A minimum of four (4) years of multifaceted engineering experience specifically within the natural gas, petrochemical, downstream oil & gas, or chemical manufacturing industries.
  • Technical Expertise: Hands-on experience delivering electrical infrastructure reliability work, executing plant outage support, and managing CBM platforms.
  • Contractual Stability: A documented history of career stability (average tenure 2 years or successfully completed 12+ month engineering project contracts).
Preferred Skills & Credentials
  • FE Certification: Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) designation is highly preferred.
  • Technical Standards: Deep proficiency in the National Electrical Code (NEC) and industrial power-systems protection (fault analysis, distribution, switchgear).
  • Software Systems: Intermediate proficiency with electrical CAD software, power-system analysis/arc-flash modeling programs, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Project Management: Proven experience managing mid-sized technical projects and directing contractor teams.
