JOB SUMMARY:

Under the guidance of the Corporate Director of IT, the IT Assistant (Intern) supports day-to-day technology support for the IT department and corporate employees. This role supports the distribution and use of voice, data, and video technologies for Chugach Alaska Corporation. The intern helps with setting up and maintaining user access, ensuring employees can effectively use their systems and tools.

Chugach Tribal Services (CTS) administers this internship program on behalf of Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC). The program is specifically designed for Shareholders and Descendants of the Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC), with the goal of building long-term career pathways in cultural stewardship and heritage preservation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Deploys information technology equipment in support of customers.
  • Provides technical support to customers through remote access via phone, email, and/or in person.
  • Offers technical assistance on the delivery, maintenance, and troubleshooting of computer systems, and hardware.
  • Provides user training for company tools and resources.
  • Assists staff with troubleshooting and diagnosing problems.
  • Gathers feedback from customers to improve training methods.
  • Assists with developing and maintaining training manuals.
  • Utilizes service desk software to manage and track workload, run reports, and analyze common complaints and problems.
  • Supports community and regional shareholder events as directed.
  • Attends all program participant meetings.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.


JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Mandatory:

  • Chugach Alaska Corporation (CAC) Shareholder or descendant of a CAC shareholder.
  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college as a full-time student with a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.0 or above (in each class).
    • Pursuing a degree in Information Technology, Systems Administration, or a related field.
  • At least one (1) year of administrative or customer service experience.
  • Demonstrated intermediate skills in the use of Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Valid state Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment background check.

Knowledge Of:
administrative procedures, policies and practices, operation of common office machinery including copiers, fax machines, computers.


Ability To: learn new technologies,maintain strict confidentiality; organize and prioritize projects and complete in accordance with established deadlines; adapts to changing priorities; perform duties in a timely manner; balance multiple tasks and deal with interruptions; communicate effectively orally and in writing with a broad audience; demonstrates the ability to work with a team or independently with little or no supervision; maintain good working relationships with all coworkers and the general public; use good judgement; communicate with a variety of people in a courteous and professional manner; maintain attention to detail; and maintain a professional appearance and work presentation.
