Position Summary
Bridgestone Group's mission is based on the words of its founder: "Serving Society with Superior Quality." In our state-of-the-art Americas Technology Center in Akron Ohio, we conduct industry leading research and development. The business unit is focused on retail, wholesale and original equipment markets. In addition to tires for use in a wide variety of applications, Bridgestone also manufactures a broad range of diversified products, which include industrial rubber and chemical products and sporting goods. Its products are sold in over 150 nations and territories around the world.
Bridgestone Americas Technology Center provides an excellent learning environment for engineering and science Co-Ops. Co-Op students at Bridgestone are an integral part of the staff and are assigned tasks that are both technically challenging and educationally stimulating. This program was designed to give real hands-on experience to students, who are willing to integrate classroom instructions with practical and valuable on-the-job work. During rotational periods (4,5 months each) you will have a chance to work on meaningful projects within the Mechanical Engineering, Polymer Engineering, Mechatronics, and Chemical Engineering fields.
Responsibilities
Undertakes and successfully completes simple or basic project/product development tasks to include any of the following: writing and/or verifying specifications, maintaining product/process documentation, data analysis/processing, testing processes, equipment, raw materials and product, and validating equipment and processes
May assist in inventing / creating concepts and designs/approaches for new products/processes/test methods
Designs and coordinates engineering tests and experiments
Prepares standard reports/documentation to communicate results to technical community
Completes basic tasks on engineering documentation/review
Identifies areas for improvement and suggests solutions
Competencies required:
Strong written, verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills
Solid Technical Skills appropriate with level in school
Demonstrates the eagerness to work and learn
Ability to adapt to various projects and collaborate with other members of the team
Minimum Qualifications
Enrollment in a Co-Op academic program in Chemical, Mechanical, or Polymer Engineering.
GPA of 3.0 or higher
