Job description

Summary

The Rights & Clearances Coordinator is responsible for researching, sourcing, and securing thirdparty materials for use in NFL Films programming. This role works closely with producers, postproduction, media management, business affairs, and project managers to fulfill content needs while ensuring all material is properly licensed according to deadlines, budgets, and legal requirements.

Essential Functions

  • Research, request, and acquire thirdparty materials including-but not limited to-photos, footage, newspaper articles, social media posts, podcasts, and other intellectual property.
  • Navigate and research archival collections, stock footage libraries, and professional photo agencies to locate hardtofind materials.
  • Screen down cuts/programs and create detailed clearance logs to document all thirdparty material usage.
  • Secure licenses, permissions, and releases for all thirdparty content used in NFL Films programming.
  • Serve as a resource for production teams regarding rights, usage restrictions, and clearance options at all stages of production.
  • Track, organize, and maintain accurate records for all research and clearance documentation including agreements, invoices, purchase orders, and correspondence.
  • Communicate with internal departments to move acquired materials through workflows and deliver them to producers.
  • Maintain strong administrative procedures and uphold departmental standards.
  • Learn and use internal rights/clearance tracking systems and screening tools.

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 2 years dedicated Rights & Clearances or Archival Producing experience.
  • Foundational understanding of thirdparty rights, licensing, and clearances.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Experience in postproduction or within a similar archival/rights/clearances environment.
  • Experience with AirTable or similar systems.
  • Experience navigating and interpreting EDLs.
  • Proven negotiation experience with major archives, stock footage/photo libraries, and independent rights holders

  • Occasional handling of physical archival materials such as footage reels, tapes, newspapers, and photo collections.

Travel

  • No regular travel expected.
