Full Time - Front-End R&D Engineer - Bothell, WA - Summer 2026

Are you interested in a Full Time opportunity with Philips? We welcome individuals who have recently completed an undergraduate (BS) and/or graduate (MS) degree to apply to our Full Time opening in Bothell, WA. Through this role you will gain meaningful, hands-on experience working for a HealthTech company.

Your role:

  • Front-end innovation and pre-development process including translating and communicating commercial, functional and design specifications into the realization of new functions, processes and/or innovative products.
  • Identify physical principles necessary to deliver targeted user benefits, development of the verification methods and instrumentation and overseeing the verification of embodiments of physical principles against requirements.
  • Provide the identification and development of methods to characterize and optimize functional parameters.
  • Support the development of methods and instrumentation to verify the clinical efficacy of embodiments (technology demonstrator) to deliver user benefits (experimental, confirmatory or claim substantiation style).
  • Safeguarding functionality, performance, quality, reliability, and manufacturability of products.
  • Finding and generating knowledge (external and internal) in one of the following domains: Dynamic mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, electromagnetics.

  • Previous Internship or Co-op experience with Bachelor's Degree in areas such as System Architecture, System Design, Hardware Engineering or equivalent.
    • A background in physics or related fields. Preferred majors include Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, Sensor Technology, Optics, Materials Science, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering - especially if you're passionate about applying these in health and consumer device solutions.
  • You must be able to successfully perform the following minimum Physical, Cognitive and Environmental job requirements with or without accommodation for this position.
  • You are skilled in prototyping, testing, CAD, MATLAB/Python, simulation, modeling, and lab instrumentation, with interest in health-related sensor applications, signal interpretation, system-level thinking, and cross-disciplinary problem solving (e.g., physics, mechanics, electromagnetics, fluid dynamics, materials)

How we work together

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

Philips Transparency Details

The pay range for this position in (Bothell, WA) is $83,000 to $131,000.

The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.

In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives may be offered. Employees are eligible to participate in our comprehensive Philips Total Rewards benefits program, which includes a generous PTO, 401k (up to 7% match), HSA (with company contribution), stock purchase plan, education reimbursement and much more. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
