Internship Noon Jobs (NOW HIRING)

The University of Tennessee Health Science Center, Knoxville Medicine is seeking a full-time non-tenure Instructor.

Serves as a professional role model and mentor for junior residents. Leads clinical teams during patient care activities, including serving as attending in the Internal Medicine Clinic twice a week for half a day. Attends one ICU shift per week from 5:00 PM to midnight, providing supervision and guidance. Covers six weeks annually of inpatient service on Team 2. Acts as a liaison between residents and faculty to foster communication and resolve conflicts effectively.

Coordinates resident schedules, calls, and rotation assignments; manages time-off requests and schedule changes. Assists with recruitment and onboarding of new residents and interns, including interviews and orientation activities. Serves as a mentor and professional role model for junior residents.

Organizes and leads educational activities such as noon conferences, board preparation sessions, and journal clubs. Provides direct teaching and supervision during clinic and ICU shifts. Collaborates with program leadership to develop curriculum enhancements and wellness initiatives. Works closely with the Program Director and Associate Program Director, overseeing the Clinician Educator Track. Serves as instructor for the SIM Lab and POCUS. Maintains active clinical responsibilities with increased leadership expectations. Leads diagnostic and treatment planning discussions in the clinic and ICU shifts. Partners with program directors to evaluate and improve residency training and leads quality improvement projects focused on patient care and resident education.

EDUCATION: M.D. or D.O. Degree.

LICENSES: Board eligibility/certification in Internal Medicine. Active medical license in Tennessee (or eligibility).

The University of Tennessee College of Medicine – Knoxville (UT Health Science Center COM-Knoxville) was initially established in 1956 as the UT Memorial Research Center and Hospital, which also provided the graduate medical and dental educational (GMDE) and research programs in Knoxville. The GMDE programs collectively became the UT Graduate School of Medicine with the formation of the University of Tennessee Medical Center (UT Medical) in 1991, and more recently were renamed the UT Health Science Center COM-Knoxville with the increased emphasis on undergraduate medical education in Knoxville as well as the statewide presence of UT Health Science Center.

The mission of the Knoxville Campus is to advance medical education required to train the next generation of physicians and dentists, deliver comprehensive and compassionate care with our hospital partner, UT Medical, and conduct innovative research that is meaningful for patients and their families. Our college provides training for third- and fourth-year Medical Students, second-year Physician Assistant Students, as well as Graduate Medical Education for 11 primary residency programs and 17 subspecialty fellowships. UT Health Science Center COM-Knoxville also provides Continuing Medical Education services for faculty, residents and practicing physicians in our region, as well as Advanced Medical Simulation for students, residents, and faculty.

The UT Health Science Center College of Medicine-Knoxville, in partnership with UT Medical, sponsors extensive translational research in both clinical and laboratory settings. The faculty collaborates with various institutions both regionally and nationally including other UT Health Science Center campuses, UTK, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL), and other health science center institutions.
