Position Description
SUMMARY
As a Project Engineer, this position is responsible for providing support in managing marine, heavy civil, and/or railroad projects. The Project Engineer is responsible for directing, coordinating, and assisting in the successful completion of projects within the individual's area of responsibility.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist throughout the bidding process by obtaining multiple quotes and developing estimates.
  • Assist the project team with site safety documentation and coordination including weekly safety inspections and investigations.
  • Prepare and maintain project controls including submittals, request for information (RFI) logs, disseminating updated drawings amongst the team, and redlining drawings as the project progresses.
  • Prepare project schedules by studying the project plans and specifications, calculating time requirements, and sequencing project elements.
  • Monitor costs and project progress including cost budget sheets, manhour tracking, quantity claiming, and material and equipment tracking.
  • Create quality control plans and work plans.
  • Facilitate project productivity reports to management regularly and prepare monthly pay estimates.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Project Manager.

Position Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelors in Construction Management or Engineering from an accredited college or university.Must possess a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) or be willing/eligible to obtain one upon hire. Valid Driver's License.
  • Experience: Any combination of relevant work experience, internships, or other extracurricular activities.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): General knowledge of and experience with Excel. Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, clients, and customers. Able to problem-solve and interpret a variety of instructions given in written, oral, diagram, or schedule forms.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certification(s): Adult First Aid w/ CPR and AED.
  • Experience: Two (2) years' experience with project engineering in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA): Proficient in HCSS, Heavy Bid, and scheduling software such as Primavera P6. Thorough knowledge and skills in marine construction operations, such as welding, pile driving, crane operations, barge operations, etc.
