Must be a US Citizen with a Secret or higher security clearance.
This role will be performed on-site in Huntsville, AL.
Summit TRC is seeking to add a Technical Writer to join our engineering team supporting UAS platforms. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys transforming complex technical information into clear, accurate documentation while working alongside software engineers, integrators, and test personnel.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop, organize, and maintain technical documentation including test procedures, user guides, software documentation, and engineering artifacts
  • Collaborate with software engineers, systems integrators, and test engineers to gather technical information and translate it into clear, concise documentation
  • Update documentation throughout the software development lifecycle to reflect new features, enhancements, and system changes
  • Assist with software testing activities to validate system functionality and ensure documentation accurately reflects system behavior
  • Execute basic software test procedures, document test results, and support verification and validation efforts
  • Utilize Linux and Windows environments to support documentation, testing, and day-to-day engineering activities
  • Maintain organized, version-controlled documentation and ensure technical artifacts remain current and audit-ready
  • Communicate effectively with technical stakeholders to clarify requirements and accurately capture engineering information

Qualifications:
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Active Secret security clearance
  • Experience creating technical documentation through coursework, internships, or professional experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Ability to understand and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operation systems
  • Basic understanding of software development or software testing concepts
  • Comfortable learning new technologies and working directly with engineering teams
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple documentation efforts simultaneously
