Entry-Level Network Engineer

San Diego, CA-92120 (5 Days onsite/week)

Job type: Contract

Must Have Skills:

  • Education: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 
  • Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required. 

Entry-Level Network Engineer specializing in Cisco routing, switching, and core networking. You'll assist in installing, configuring, and maintaining routers, switches, and wireless access points; monitor network performance; troubleshoot issues; implement security measures; document configurations; and provide end-user support. Stay ahead with emerging technologies in a collaborative environment. Requirements: Associate’s degree in Computer Science or IT (Bachelor’s preferred), CCNA certification, basic knowledge of TCP/IP, routing/switching, and network security. X-X years of experience; strong problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred: Additional certs like CompTIA Network+ or Security+, and Cisco equipment experience. Flexible hours and occasional lifting required. This position requires on-site work in San Diego, CA.

CORE NETWORKING-ROUTING & SWITCHING - CISCO - Entry-Level Network Engineer 

Key Responsibilities: 

Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network hardware and software, including routers, switches, and wireless access points. 

Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure efficient and reliable network operations. 

Collaborate with senior network engineers to implement network security measures and maintain network integrity. 

Participate in the documentation of network configurations, changes, and procedures. 

Support end-users by providing technical assistance and resolving connectivity issues. 

Stay up-to-date with emerging networking technologies and industry trends. 

Minimum Job Requirements: 

Education: Associate’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Bachelor’s degree preferred. 

Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification is required. 

Technical Skills

Basic understanding of networking principles, including TCP/IP, routing, switching, and wireless technologies. 

Familiarity with network hardware such as routers, switches, and wireless access points. 

Basic knowledge of network security principles and practices. 

Experience with network monitoring and troubleshooting tools is a plus. 

Soft Skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. 

Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 

Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and methodologies. 

Experience:  

Prior internship or hands-on experience in network support or a related field is beneficial but not required. 

0-X years of experience in network engineering or a related field, with a focus on routing, switching, and wireless technologies. 

Additional Requirements: 

Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings or weekends, to support network maintenance and upgrades. 

Ability to lift and move network equipment as needed. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

Bachelor’s degree in a related field. 

Additional certifications such as CompTIA Network+, CompTIA Security+, or other relevant networking certifications. 

Experience with Cisco networking equipment and software.
