Job description

This is a grant-funded position, and continued employment is contingent upon ongoing grant funding.

JOB GOAL: Under the supervision of the District College and Career Success Coordinator, Career Navigator (CN) will play a pivotal role in supporting HPS high school students and alumni in their journey to and through college and career success. Each Career Navigator will serve the district's schools, delivering tailored workshops, administering assessments, providing individualized and group advising, tracking Industry-Based Certifications (IBCs), and supporting students post-graduation to prevent summer melt and ensure successful transitions to postsecondary education or career pathways.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
o Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
o Minimum 2 years of professional experience (preferred)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
o Plans and delivers monthly career talks, industry panels, and alumni speaker series to engage students with diverse
career pathways.
o Coordinates annual college and career expos in collaboration with regional partners.
o Organizes field trips to local employers and community colleges to provide real-world exposure.
o Facilitates externship/internship programs with employer partners throughout the years for rising juniors and seniors.
o Collaborates with partner organizations to organize Career Test Drive and Essential Skills Workshops.
o Analyzes career assessments report from YouScience data to create personalized career plans for students who consider
direct to workforce paths.
o Guides students in interpreting assessment results to create actionable career plans.
o Assists in the implementation of IBC programs at assigned campuses.
o Monitors and tracks high school students’ IBC completion progress and provides necessary intervention to help them
complete their IBCs before high school graduation in the district.
o Conducts 1-1 career guidance sessions to connect those seniors to strong workforce programs aligned with their goals.
o Provides summer melt intervention support for those seniors who pursue alternative pathways after graduation.
o Conducts text campaigns and check-in calls with seniors and recent graduates to ensure continued engagement.
o Provides regular touchpoints with community college students and non-college goers, supporting enrollment in Level 1
and 2 certificates and relevant job training programs.
o Performs other duties as assigned


SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
o Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external
to the district.
o Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
o Ability to use computer including software, database used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software,
calculator, copy machine and telephone.
o Ability to analyze data
o Ability to use effective interview techniques, effective public speaking skills, and problem-solving skills


WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
o Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
o Nights and weekend activities will be occasionally required.
o Position is in office setting and may involve prolonged work at a desk in one location.
o Moderate travel is required.
