We are a digital media company built on unique personalities linked by their passions and strong opinions on sports and pop culture. We are committed to producing the best content from the biggest names in their respective fields.

We are seeking a Media Management & Distribution Specialist to oversee the preparation, transcoding, metadata structuring, and distribution of digital media assets across multiple streaming and OTT partner platforms. This role is responsible for building and maintaining internal DAM platforms, MRSS feeds, and S3 content sharing. Ensuring media files meet platform specifications, and managing end-to-end content delivery workflows.

What You’ll Do:

  • Launch and maintain The Volume’s S3 platform and all buckets for multiple external distribution partners.
  • Prepare and manage media assets, including video, audio, images, and metadata
  • Transcode media files into platform-compliant formats using tools such as FFmpeg or cloud-based encoding services
  • Ensure all media meets technical specifications (codecs, bitrates, resolutions, file formats) required by partner platforms
  • Manage content ingestion and publishing workflows across OTT, and internal DAM platforms
  • Coordinate delivery schedules and troubleshoot ingestion or playback issues with partners
  • Maintain accurate metadata (titles, descriptions, thumbnails, categories, tags) within feeds and CMS systems
  • Optimize media storage and archival systems across the network
  • Monitor feed health, validate XML structure, and ensure uptime and reliability
  • Collaborate with engineering, content, and partner teams to streamline workflows and improve scalability

Who You Are:

  • 3+ years of experience in digital media operations, content distribution, or OTT workflows
  • Experience managing multiple DAM or CMS platforms (Shade, Lucid Link, etc.) for media asset management
  • Strong understanding of MRSS, RSS, XML structure, and metadata standards, with exceptional attention to detail in metadata and XML formatting
  • Hands-on experience with media transcoding tools such as FFmpeg, as well as cloud-based transcoding services (e.g., AWS Elemental MediaConvert, Mux)
  • Familiarity with video codecs (H.264, H.265), containers (MP4), and audio formats (AAC)
  • Experience managing content delivery via cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, CDN environments)
  • Understanding of streaming protocols and formats (progressive MP4, HLS, DASH)
  • Experience working with OTT platforms such as Roku, Apple TV, Android TV, or similar ecosystems
  • Understanding of DRM, content protection, and geo-distribution
  • Experience working with APIs for content ingestion and distribution
  • Basic scripting or automation experience (Python, Bash, or Node.js)
  • Strong troubleshooting and QA skills for media playback and ingestion issues
  • Ability to manage multiple distribution partners and deadlines simultaneously with strong organizational and workflow management skills
  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams
  • Adaptable and solutions-oriented in a fast-paced digital media environment

Compensation subject to experience and location. Published salary bands pursuant to transparency laws, and do not include possible variable compensation such as annual merit increases or bonus eligibility.
