The Engineering & Technology Department within the Robert F. Cervenka School of Engineering, College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management invites qualified candidates to apply for our Department Assistant position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum / Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent judgment, including sensitivity to personal and confidential information
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically, Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Basic computer skills and functional knowledge of computer hardware/accessories and the internet
- Good work habits, such as attendance, punctuality, accountability, thoroughness, and resourcefulness
- Work independently and as part of a team environment and on collaborative efforts
Highly Desired/Preferred
- Experience in an administrative and/or financial management position

RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: provide administrative assistance to the department chair, department members and students; serve as the departments' financial manager; purchase supplies and equipment; act as office manager/lead worker; manage departmental offices and processes; assist in curriculum management and entry; assist with recruitments and hiring paperwork; assist with instructor evaluations by students; general computer/technical support for office functions; and other related duties.
DEPARTMENT INFORMATION
The R.F. Cervenka School of Engineering is comprised of the Engineering and Technology (E&T) Department which is one of eight departments in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics, and Management (CSTEMM). The department has approximately 40 full-time faculty and staff. The department provides courses for its well-established and accredited undergraduate programs in Computer & Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering (B.S. and M.S.), Mechanical Engineering, Plastics Engineering, Engineering Technology, and Packaging, plus other programs throughout the University.

Competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
A six-month probationary period is required
Minimum starting salary of $18.00/hour, commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Key Job Responsibilities:- Coordinates projects and program components including, scheduling and logistics, unit workflow, and identifies areas for process improvements
- Develops, implements, and maintains methods and organizational systems directed at the maintenance of electronic/physical records related to department operations according to established policies and procedures
- May provide operational guidance and training on day-to-day activities of student workers and program staff
- Serves as a primary point of contact for the department
- Monitors the department, unit or program budget and expenses, and may assist in the development of program budget and projections
- Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves problems regarding technical systems and programs related to department operations
