Join the La Crosse Area Family YMCA for an enriching Y on the Fly Internship! Are you passionate about making a positive impact in public health, food access, youth development, and community outreach? We have an exciting internship opportunity that allows you to gain hands-on experience. This internship is ideal for individuals interested in health promotion, community engagement, and making a difference in the lives of others. Under the guidance of our Food Access Director, you'll engage in a dynamic curriculum designed to develop competencies in nutrition, food access, and youth engagement.
Internship Curriculum: Public Health and Community Outreach Concentration
Throughout the internship, you'll embark on a journey of learning and hands-on experience covering various aspects of our Food Program and Community Outreach initiatives. From food program implementation to youth engagement and community events planning, you'll gain valuable insights and practical skills.
Regular evaluations and reflections will track your progress, helping you identify areas for growth and showcasing your achievements in culminating projects and presentations.

Responsibilities:
    • Collaborate with our Community Outreach team to create and implement wellness programming for the community.
    • Assist in organizing and leading youth development activities, promoting healthy lifestyles and positive choices.
    • Support initiatives to improve food access in underserved areas, and nutrition education.
    • Engage with local schools and organizations to promote health education and outreach.
    • Assist with data collection, analysis, and reporting for program evaluation and improvement.
    • Contribute to social media and marketing efforts to raise awareness of our programs and initiatives.
    • Participate in community events and outreach activities to promote health and wellness.

Requirements
  • Hold a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record.
  • Pass a mandatory background check.
  • Capable of standing, walking, sitting, and lifting up to 50 pounds. Flexibility in performing various physical tasks is essential.

Qualifications:
  • Currently enrolled in a public health, community health, nutrition, or related program (or recent graduate).
  • Strong passion for public health, wellness, food access, youth development, and community outreach.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational skills.
