The Specialty lines Intern position is a temporary, 12-week role designed to introduce students or recent graduates to the property and casualty insurance industry. In this program, the intern will be tasked with leading and completing a Lean Six Sigma project, with the opportunity to earn their Yellow Belt certification.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Attend Lean Six Sigma training and lead a project from inception to completion.
  • Interact and collaborate with internal departments to gain industry knowledge and achieve project goals.
  • Prepare and present project updates to senior management.
  • Become familiar with property and casualty insurance industry terminology.
  • Complete assigned trainings on property and casualty insurance industry knowledge.
  • Assist team members with day-to-day tasks and assignments.
  • Shadow team members and assigned executive mentor to gain insider knowledge of property and casualty insurance.
  • Network with others through participation in social company events.
  • Attend onboarding and training as assigned.

PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS
Product Development: As a summer intern in our Specialty- Product Management department you will learn about the property insurance industry, which is going through changes faster than ever. Your project will focus on evaluating what ways insurers can disrupt the marketplace (product, pricing, distribution, etc.) and developing a series of recommendations on how Tower Hill Specialty can be the disrupters of the southeast regional property insurance marketplace. We encourage you to think big, think about FinTech and other InsurTech actions that have taken place. This opportunity will give you hands-on experience with the evolving property insurance industry, while making an impact on Tower Hill Specialty's growth and success.
Product Management: As a summer intern in the Specialty - Product Management department, you will create a tool to aid Tower Hill Specialty in making better informed product and rate decisions. Your project will focus on using a combination of publicly available rate filings and agency quote data to build a competitive position/market basket dashboard that is self-sustaining, widely distributed and communicated consistently within and outside of product to our stakeholders and agents. This project will give you experience within the property insurance industry and data visualization tools, while making a lasting impact on Tower Hill Specialty's growth.
