Job description

Title: Computer Science Intern

Location: College Park, Maryland (across the street from campus)

We enable digital transformation for large organizations through the newest in distributed technologies as we are laser focused on end-to- end application development, DevSecOps, AI/ML and systems architecture and our methodology focuses on cloud-first and cost-effective innovation. Our customers hail from a diverse, ever-growing list of industries. We work with small startups, hyper-growth companies, and some of the largest enterprises.

Position Overview:

As a Computer Scientist Intern at Rackner, you will have the chance to work closely with our team of experienced computer scientists and engineers on challenging and impactful projects. You will be involved in research, development, and problem-solving, helping to shape the future of technology. This internship is designed to provide you with valuable real-world experience in a supportive and innovative environment. The primary objectives will be around automation of business processes and conducting research and development for DevSecOps tools. We intend to hire many interns with similar responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the R&D team to design, develop, and implement software solutions and algorithms.
  • Conduct research on emerging technologies and industry trends to support project development.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and debugging software issues.
  • Participate in coding, testing, and documentation of software components.
  • Analyze and interpret data to generate insights and support decision-making.
  • Work on cross-functional projects and contribute to team discussions.
  • Learn and apply computer science principles to solve complex problems.
  • 10 hours/week during the school year, 40 hours/week in the summer, >51% of the time will be in office

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, Java, C++, or similar.
  • Familiarity with data structures, algorithms, and software development methodologies.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced and evolving tech environment.
  • Passion for technology and a desire to contribute to innovative projects.
  • Must be able to prove HUBZone occupancy in the current year* within the first week of employment using one of the following methods
    • Lease covering March 26-September 23
    • Drivers License acquired before March 26
    • Voter Registration Card acquired before March 26
