Job description

Career Area:
Human Resources
Job Description:
Your Work Shapes the World at Caterpillar Inc.
When you join Caterpillar, you're joining a global team who cares not just about the work we do - but also about each other. We are the makers, problem solvers, and future world builders who are creating stronger, more sustainable communities. We don't just talk about progress and innovation here - we make it happen, with our customers, where we work and live. Together, we are building a better world, so we can all enjoy living in it.
Job Summary:
Owns the delivery, enablement, and community-building functions of the AI Accelerator's enablement program. The AI Accelerator is a central team responsible for helping Caterpillar's enterprise functions - such as engineering, supply chain, HR, and manufacturing - adopt and leverage AI.
This role is the primary interface between the AI Accelerator and Caterpillar's central L&D organization and is responsible for driving an AI curriculum that increases use case velocity across Caterpillar's enterprise functions. This is a foundational role for the enablement program we are building and will need to be comfortable doing hands-on enablement - running workshops, demonstrating capabilities, and helping teams connect AI tools to their actual workflows - as well as forming a strategy to scale the program over time. Reports to the Senior Director, AI Accelerator.
What You Will Do:
  • Own end-to-end delivery of the AI Accelerator's training programs across multiple audiences and capability levels. Ensure programs produce measurable changes in how teams work, not just awareness.
  • Serve as a hands-on AI enablement resource for business teams - running workshops, demonstrating tools, and helping teams connect AI capabilities to their actual workflows. Requires working fluency with applied AI technologies including large language models, agentic architectures, and retrieval-augmented generation.
  • Design, launch, and sustain cross-functional communities of practice that connect AI practitioners across the enterprise and accelerate knowledge sharing.
  • Serve as the AI Accelerator's primary liaison with Caterpillar's central L&D function. Ensure specialized AI programs and broader enterprise training efforts are complementary.
  • Establish how we measure whether training is working - tied to adoption and behavior change, not just completion rates.
  • Identify opportunities to leverage AI to make learning, development and enablement faster and more effective.

What You Will Have:
Applied AI Fluency:
Knowledge of current AI technologies, architectures, and enterprise application patterns; ability to credibly communicate AI capabilities, limitations, and transformation potential to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Demonstrates hands-on familiarity with large language models, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and agentic workflow patterns.
  • Runs credible workshops on AI-driven process transformation without relying on a technical co-presenter.
  • Evaluates and contextualizes emerging AI capabilities for enterprise applicability and relevance to specific business functions.
  • Can bridge the gap between what AI technology can do and how teams adopt it in their day-to-day work.
  • Identifies when training content has fallen behind the pace of AI advancement and drives updates to maintain relevance.
  • Translates complex AI concepts into practical, domain-specific guidance for non-technical business audiences.

Program Management:
Knowledge of program and project management methodology and techniques; ability to plan, organize, and manage multiple concurrent learning programs across diverse audiences and delivery formats.
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Manages multiple concurrent programs across different audiences, capability levels, and delivery formats without gaps in execution.
  • Establishes delivery cadences, feedback loops, and iteration cycles that keep programs responsive to changing needs.
  • Coordinates across internal stakeholders, external partners, and subject matter experts to deliver cohesive learning experiences.
  • Develops and maintains program reporting mechanisms for leadership visibility.
  • Balances operational rigor with the flexibility required in a rapidly evolving technology landscape.

Community Building and Stakeholder Engagement
Knowledge of techniques for building practitioner communities and driving sustained engagement; ability to create durable networks that accelerate knowledge sharing and adoption across organizational boundaries.
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Designs and launches communities of practice that practitioners actively want to participate in - not compliance-driven attendance.
  • Curates community content that blends internal case studies, external perspectives, and technical demonstrations of frontier capabilities.
  • Builds connective tissue across organizational silos, connecting AI practitioners who would not otherwise collaborate.
  • Establishes community rituals and cadences that sustain engagement beyond initial launch energy.
  • Leverages community insights to identify emerging needs, surface transformation stories, and inform curriculum priorities.
  • Navigates the politics of cross-functional engagement in a large, matrixed organization.

Influencing:
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Achieves influence and impact even when holding a position contrary to the majority
  • Ability to work in matrix organization to build productive partnerships with central L&D and other enterprise functions.
  • Leads and presents collaborative assessments that persuasively influence decision makers.
  • Advises on techniques to build rapport and commitment to common purpose.
  • Determines and leverages the decision-making style of the individual or group being influenced.
  • Navigates shared ownership models where accountability is distributed across teams.

Planning: Tactical, Strategic
Ability to contribute to operational (short term), tactical (6 months-1 year) and strategic (2-5 years) planning in support of the overall business plan.
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Develops, refines, and communicates tactical plans for L&D delivery aligned to the AI Accelerator's transformation goals.
  • Calibrates learning interventions to where each business team is in their AI adoption journey.
  • Ensures L&D planning is integrated with the Accelerator's broader engagement strategy and enterprise priorities.
  • Plans for allocation of resources across multiple simultaneous engagements with teams at different capability levels.
  • Anticipates how the rapidly evolving AI landscape will affect training needs and adjusts plans proactively.
  • Provides the right level of detail as input for strategic plan development.

Collaborating:
Ability to work with a variety of individuals and groups in a constructive and collaborative manner.
Level: Extensive Experience
  • Demonstrates experience engendering collaborative processes that lead to problem solving and the achievement of business goals.
  • Establishes shared goals to foster collaboration between the AI Accelerator, central L&D, IT, and business functions across the enterprise.
  • Implements methods for practitioners to come together to share patterns, solve problems, and develop new approaches to AI adoption.
  • Deemphasizes organizational divides; focuses on collaboration across functions, regions, and levels.
  • Ensures that everyone can access the same data and provide input into how training programs are designed and delivered.

If you don't feel like you perfectly meet all the requirements but would like to apply, we'd love to hear from you.
