Seasonal Wetland Scientist

Westwood Professional Services, Inc.


Westwood Professional Services, Inc. is seeking seasonal/temporary full-time Wetland Scientists / Biologists based out of our Minnetonka, MN office for the 2026 field season. Westwood is an environmental, permitting, engineering and surveying firm that provides services nationwide for the development of renewable energy and land development projects.


The qualified individuals will provide field wetland delineation services to support the planning, design, and approvals of site improvements for wind and solar energy projects as well as residential and commercial land development projects across the United States. This position is expected to be staffed from Mid-April to Late October, with potential to expand into a full-time permanent position. This position will primarily conduct field wetland delineations and other field-based surveys, working with other members of Westwood’s experienced Wetland Delineation staff. Responsibilities will include:

  • Initial desktop-level research (photo-review, soils maps, hydrology)
  • Onsite routine field wetland delineations across the country
  • Attend onsite regulatory wetland review meetings as required
  • Groundwater monitoring well inspections
  • Technical report preparation

Travel: The position will involve frequent travel. Travel obligations will include multiple-day mobilizations of 3-10 days with some overnights. Multiple mobilizations each month of varying timeframes will be required.


Requirements:
  • Degree in environmental science, soil science, biology, botany, or related natural sciences field.
  • Comfortable working outdoors in remote locations for long periods in hot and cold climatic conditions.
  • The ability to lift 50 pounds, and to remain on feet for extended periods of time, either stationary or walking through all types of terrain.
  • Able and willing to travel across the U.S. with overnight stays as needed.
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Good driving record and valid driver’s license required.

For Preferred Consideration (Not Required):

  • Field experience in conducting wetland delineations according to USACE 1987 Manual and regional supplements.
  • A solid understanding of state and federal wetland regulations, including the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act.
  • Professional Wetland Scientist and/or Minnesota Certified Wetland Delineator registration.
  • Experience with GPS equipment and ArcGIS.
