Job description

Indulge your passion for hunting, fishing, and all things outdoors as a Part-Time Sales Associate at Jax Outdoor Gear in Lafayette.  Share your knowledge and enthusiasm and guide customers in making the best decisions on hunting gear and bait.  Help customers prepare for hunting by tuning bows and giving tips on archery.  Product training, pro-deals, and our employee discount mean you can try out items in order to increase your knowledge and provide expert opinions to our customers.

Our Sales Associates are responsible for greeting customers, providing honest and informative answers to questions, making suggestions about products that customers might want, and performing necessary tasks for efficient department operation.  Responsibilities include stocking shelves, tracking down products for customers, keeping the department tidy, relaying customer feedback to their manager, and assisting with visual merchandising of products in the store. Additional tasks may include:

  • Accurately processing payments
  • Helping with visual merchandising 
  • Maintaining a clean and well-stocked area 
  • Complete record-keeping tasks and contributing to reports
  • Selling fishing licenses  
  • Learning about products to provide better answers to customer questions
  • Assisting in loss prevention efforts
  • Communicating professionally
  • Presenting a professional appearance and demeanor
  • Taking steps to advance teamwork and develop solid working relationships with co-workers 
  • Assisting in inventory responsibilities 
Our ideal candidate has prior customer service experience, and is willing to pitch-in where needed.  Additional knowledge, skills or abilities include:
  • Experience with a variety of hunting and fishing practices required
  • Bow technician experience preferred 
  • Previous retail experience preferred
  • Computer proficiency required
  • Works well with others
  • Organizational skills
  • Engaging and positive
  • Attention to detail 

Schedule Requirements:

  • Must have open availability, nights, and weekends

Pay Range:  $15.16 - $16.50

Positions:   1 Part-Time opening available
