Job description

ob Purpose

The Heat Treat Inspector shall operate and assist in the functions of heat-treating pipe material in accordance with plant policies and procedures. He/she will ensure a safe and compliant operation during his/her shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Employee must report to his immediate supervisor for briefing on daily tasks.
  • Safety is our number one priority. Employees must follow all PPE policies and safety rules.
  • Provide and assist with good maintenance on the equipment he is operating.
  • Employees must maintain good housekeeping ethics. Work areas must be free and clear of debris.
  • Assist in the verification and recording of production and findings in the ERP System and/or required documents.
  • Responsible for the production of a prime heat-treated material in conformance to the required specification.
  • To produce a product that meets the required specifications throughout the first and last article of the heat treat process.
  • Responsible for inspecting area and equipment.
  • Assists in clean-up, repair, and replacement of equipment during maintenance shutdowns.
  • Communicate with Heat Treat Supervisor any concerns or questions to achieve a quality product.
  • Assist in the charging and discharging of material on racks.
  • The employee is responsible in assisting with documentation and or technical devices for recording production and findings.
  • Communicating to Supervisor any problems with material and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications / Competencies

  • Education:
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Years of Experience:
  • 1 yearsโ€™ experience or on the job training is preferred but not required.
  • Job Knowledge:
  • At least Knowledge and experience within the OCTG pipe inspection industry is preferable.
  • Knowledge of the heat treat processes, procedures, and technical instruments is a plus but not required.
  • Personal Competencies:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Employees must be able to work with a flexible schedule which may require over-time.
  • Safety:
  • Understands all applicable location safety rules and regulations and makes sure that all are being followed.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
  • Loose-fitting clothes and jewelry are not permitted on site.
  • The ability to lift 25/50 pounds regularly.
  • The ability to respond quickly to sounds.
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces.
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations.
  • The ability to safely climb ladders while carrying 40 pounds.
  • The ability to work in loud, hot environments/extreme weather while wearing required PPE.
  • Ability to see 20-20 when corrected.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish colors.
