Responsibilities
The Executive Director of the Robinson Life Science, Business and Entrepreneurship (LSBE) Program, along with the LSBE Faculty Co-Directors, leads the continued development of this multi-disciplinary program on the Berkeley campus. Reporting directly to the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs at the Haas School of Business with a "dotted line" to the Assistant Dean of Finance and Administration for Biological Sciences, this position is responsible for the management of student recruitment, admissions, and student orientation; academic advising and coaching, career counseling and an extensive, multi-year internship program; extra-curricular events, including cohort development, company treks, and other industry related activities; and all budget controls and program policies.
The Executive Director collaborates extensively with the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and the Undergraduate Offices of Business and Biological Sciences as well as respective marketing, alumni relations, and budget units within Business and Biological Sciences. This leadership position, along with the Faculty Co-Directors, externally represents the LSBE program through active corporate engagement, leveraging industrial networks and alumni connections from both the Haas School of Business and the Division of Biological Sciences. The Executive Director and Faculty Co-Directors partner with the LSBE Advisory Board, an advisory group of key stakeholders and philanthropic leaders. The LSBE Program Team (Student Services Advisor and Program Coordinator) report to the Executive Director.
Employer Engagement and Career Education
- Develops and executes on a career and secondary education strategy for LSBE students.
- Supports the creation of a strategic, high-impact corporate partners network to provide opportunities for robust internships, mentoring opportunities, and corporate financial support to the LSBE program that serves 100 students annually.
- Develops, implements, and prepares reports and analyzes student placement data using appropriate internal and/or campus data management systems (e.g. CalAnswers); tracks progress, identifies trends, and assesses data for the program's long-range planning efforts; evaluates annually the success of efforts to achieve placement rate and quality goals.
- With the Faculty Co-Directors, manages industry and alumni network relationships to promote LSBE and to provide both technical and business administration-focused summer internships.
- Advises students around career and secondary education exploration.
- Identifies the needs for skills-based workshops around internship and full-time career positions.
- Collaborates with Berkeley Career Engagement and external vendors for creation and execution of workshops.
- Develops and maintains relationships with alumni to create engagement opportunities and enhance the student experience.
- Develops proposals and recommendations to guide and support a broader strategic direction for the organization.
- Researches and summarizes best practices in the field.
- Assesses program's effectiveness, and makes changes to program's content, policies and procedures accordingly.
- Manage strategic and long-range planning efforts, budgeting, and program implementation.
- Leads plan to research and determine future LSBE program innovations.
- With the Faculty Co-Directors, helps to convene the LSBE external advisory board of top industry executives, and any other future advisory bodies.
- Maintain engagement with members with the goal of increasing student opportunities and mentoring and philanthropic support to LSBE and to UC Berkeley.
- Collaborates with the leadership within the Haas and Biological Sciences undergraduate programs, sharing best practices and coordinating on the overall Haas undergraduate student experience.
- Assess, implement and manage administrative oversight of the LSBE Program Team, including the seasonal evaluation team.
- Identifies and pursues funding opportunities and revenue streams through corporate engagement.
- Collaborates with development teams in Haas and Biological Sciences to inform donor proposals and campaigns.
- Conducts annual planning and budget process, reviewed by the Assistant Deans, LSBE Board, and Faculty Co-Directors with final decision by the Deans of the Haas Business School and Division of Biological Sciences.
- Oversees LSBE program operating budget.
- Embraces the principle of Students Always by engaging in opportunities for training, workshops, seminars and continuing education pertinent to the position or at the suggestion of the supervisor.
- Actively contributes to a team environment that fosters and promotes a culture of belonging within LSBE and at Haas and Biological Sciences.

- Demonstrated leadership and management experience in undergraduate or similar relevant program execution, implementation, and analysis in relation to educational policies, trends, and university policies, procedures, and practices.

Education/Training:
- Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training.
This is a 100% full-time (40 hrs a week) exempt career position, which is paid monthly at an annual rate and is eligible for UC Benefits.

It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted annual salary range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $91,500.00 - $150,000.00.
