Business Development/Marketing Intern

ABB Enterprises LLC is a certified Woman-Owned Small Business (WOSB/EDWOSB) focused on GovTech consulting, municipal modernization, research, and implementation services. Through PermitSpark, ABB Enterprises is helping municipalities modernize permitting processes, improve service delivery, and accelerate infrastructure and clean-energy projects.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Business Development & Municipal Outreach Intern will work directly with company leadership to support the launch and expansion of PermitSpark throughout Michigan. This position provides hands-on experience in business development, municipal engagement, government relations, marketing strategy, customer acquisition, and startup operations.

Interns will gain real-world experience working with local governments, public officials, economic development organizations, and municipal departments.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Municipal Outreach & Relationship Development

• Research municipal decision-makers and key stakeholders
• Build and maintain contact databases
• Identify City Managers, Building Officials, Planning Directors, and Permit Administrators
• Conduct outreach via email, phone, LinkedIn, and professional networking channels
• Schedule meetings and product demonstrations
• Assist with follow-up communications and relationship management

Business Development

• Support customer acquisition efforts across targeted municipalities
• Research municipal funding opportunities including CPRG and EGLE programs
• Assist in lead generation and prospect qualification
• Maintain CRM records and sales pipeline activities
• Track outreach performance metrics and engagement results
• Prepare business development reports and summaries

Marketing & Communications

• Assist in development of marketing materials and presentations
• Support social media and digital marketing initiatives
• Create municipal-focused outreach campaigns
• Help develop case studies, one-page summaries, and promotional content
• Support event planning and recruitment activities

Market Research

• Conduct competitive analysis of GovTech and permitting technology providers
• Research municipal permitting trends and modernization initiatives
• Analyze target markets and identify growth opportunities
• Monitor industry news and government funding programs
