Job description

Golf Starter 2026 Season
GENERAL PURPOSE
Performs a variety of working level, semi-professional and technical duties related promoting, teaching, and developing golf within the community; assists in the operation and management of a golf pro shop. Provides front line customer service to golfers by establishing tee times, tracking speed of play, collecting money for fees and merchandise sales. May be asked to assist cart attendant as required.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the general guidance and direction of the Golf Professionals. Assignments given and reviewed daily.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Assists in providing supervision to Cart Attendant(s). Supervise the work of one unit, crew, or group. Are responsible for quality and quantity of work. Schedules and assigns work. Provides close to general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Supervises the operations and maintenance of the driving range and pro shop, including daily checking in of guests and money received.
Assists in supervising and administering the overall functions of the golf course and its rules and regulations.
Assists in the employment, and assignment of golf course employees.
Serves customers in the pro shop and supervises inventory control.
Serves as ranger for the golf course.
Makes management decisions within the business operations area in the absence of the golf professionals.
Works as necessary to provide service at the golf course, which may include working odd hours or shifts.
Helps promote and teach the junior program and supervising tournaments and clinics.
Assists in other tournament operations.
Promotes the golf course and course events to the public.
Performs related work as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. Education and Experience:
A. High School senior, college student, or graduate of both;
AND
B. At least one year working at a course either outside or inside of the Pro Shop;
OR
C. An equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Work Environment:
Incumbent of the position generally performs in a typical office setting with appropriate climate controls. Tasks require variety of physical activities, generally involving some muscular strain, such as walking, standing, stooping, sitting, reaching, etc. Talking, hearing and seeing essential to the performance of the job. Potential for moderate fatigue resulting from lengthy standing. Common eye, hand, finger dexterity required. Mental application utilizes memory for details, verbal instructions, emotional stability, discriminating thinking and creative problem solving.
