Job Summary:
RevSpring is a company focused on solving complex healthcare problems through technology, and they are seeking a Staff Software Engineer to join their Health Plan Applications and Services team. The role involves developing backend services, mentoring engineers, and ensuring the reliability and performance of healthcare solutions.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Develop and maintain backend services by writing clean, maintainable, and efficient code that supports high-throughput and low-latency requirements. Effective in paired programming and working independently.
โ€ข Mentor other engineers and elevate the technical capabilities and overall effectiveness of the engineering team.
โ€ข Lead the team through architectural, product, and priority tradeoffs and decision making.
โ€ข Participate in the deployment and monitoring of services within the AWS ecosystem.
โ€ข Participate in code reviews, automated testing, and CI/CD workflows.
โ€ข Contribute to observability through logging and metrics; participate in on-call rotations and incident response.
โ€ข Contribute to task definition, prioritization, and assignment.
โ€ข Drive deliverables with a sense of urgency and ownership along with surfacing risks, mitigating them, and suggesting course corrections when appropriate.
โ€ข Own multiple products with a DevOps and service-ownership mindset. Deliver quality solutions with test automation, instrumentation, monitoring, secure/defensive coding, resiliency, and scalability.
โ€ข Collaborate on work with the team and other contributing teams, engaging cross-functionally to ensure successful project and/or product delivery.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Demonstrates a passion for coding and consistently delivers high-quality, maintainable, and easy-to-understand production software.
โ€ข Possesses a strong understanding of software design patterns and their importance in building scalable, reliable applications.
โ€ข Proficiency in Java (or similar language with the ability to learn Java quickly) building production APIs and services.
โ€ข Experience building and deploying applications in a cloud environment (AWS preferred).
โ€ข Understanding of RESTful API design and asynchronous messaging patterns.
โ€ข Strong knowledge of software fundamentals (data structures, algorithms, and testing).
โ€ข Ability to take uncertain requirements, ask the right questions to solidify them, and then break them down into the parts that you can build.
โ€ข Experience writing comprehensive unit and functional tests and being responsible for quality.
โ€ข Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical teammates and stakeholders.
โ€ข Experience with other technologies we use on the team such as Python, OpenSearch, Pulumi, Postgres, DynamoDB, Datomic, Clojure, Javascript/TypeScript, React, and more.
โ€ข Experience building and maintaining Search APIs.
โ€ข Experience building AI powered solutions.
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree.
โ€ข 10+ years of professional software engineering experience with a focus on backend development.
