Job description

Technical Source is seeking Data Center Cable Pullers to support mission-critical data center and fiber infrastructure projects for one of our telecommunications clients at the Data Center in Abilene, TX. In this role, you will support the installation of structured cabling systems, assisting with fiber and copper deployments while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards.

This position is ideal for entry to mid-level technicians or individuals with construction or cabling experience who are looking to grow within the data center industry. This is an on-site role for the duration of the project, with opportunities for extension.

Job Functions

Field Installation Support

  • Pull, route, and secure fiber optic and copper cabling throughout the data center
  • Assist with installation of cable trays, racks, and pathway systems
  • Support lead technicians and foremen with daily installation tasks
  • Follow blueprints, schematics, and supervisor direction to complete work accurately

Cable Management & Quality

  • Label, dress, and organize cabling according to project and industry standards
  • Ensure proper handling and routing of cables to maintain performance and integrity
  • Assist in preparing cabling for testing and final installation review

Material Handling & Site Support

  • Assist with material staging, movement, and inventory tracking
  • Maintain tools and equipment in proper working condition
  • Support overall site operations as needed to keep projects on schedule

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all site safety protocols and OSHA requirements at all times
  • Wear required PPE and maintain a safe work environment
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards
  • Participate in safety meetings and adhere to zero-incident expectations

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 6+ months of experience in cable pulling, construction, or data center environments preferred
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Technical & Professional Skills

  • Basic understanding of structured cabling systems (fiber and copper)
  • Familiarity with hand and power tools
  • Ability to follow technical instructions and read basic diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail and willingness to learn

Physical & Working Conditions

  • Ability to work onsite at an active construction/data center environment

  • Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods (10โ€“12 hour shifts)
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures
  • Ability to work overtime, including nights and weekends as needed
