Job Summary

As a Sales Engineer specializing in Data Center Automation and SCADA, you will be the technical expert supporting the sales team to acquire new customers and expand existing accounts. You will be responsible for understanding customer goals, designing tailored SCADA/automation solutions, and delivering engaging technical presentations to stakeholders. Your goal is to bridge the gap between mission-critical physical infrastructure and intelligent monitoring systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Solution Design & Engineering: Develop, prepare, and deliver complex technical proposals, system architectures, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for data center monitoring (BMS/EPMS) and SCADA systems.
  • Technical Sales Support: Act as the primary technical contact throughout the sales cycle, conducting needs assessments, delivering product demos, and addressing technical objections.
  • Customer Engagement & Consultation: Consult with data center operators, EPCs, and consulting engineers to advise on energy efficiency, sustainability (PUE optimization), and reliability standards.
  • SCADA & Automation Expertise: Design and demonstrate PLC-based control systems, RTUs, and SCADA platforms (e.g., Ignition, Wonderware, Modbus/OPC UA protocols).
  • RFP/RFI Management: Lead the technical response to RFPs, ensuring compliance with data center standards, including Uptime Institute Tiers, ASHRAE, and NFPA.
  • Collaboration: Partner with sales managers to align technical solutions with client business goals, and coordinate with engineering/operations teams for post-sale implementation.

Requirements

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical experience.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in technical sales or engineering within mission-critical environments (Data Centers, Energy, or Industrial Manufacturing).
  • Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of SCADA fundamentals, PLC programming (ladder logic, structured text), and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP, Serial EIA-485).
  • Data Center Knowledge: Experience with EPMS (Electrical Power Monitoring Systems) and BMS (Building Management Systems).
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to translate complex technical jargon into ROI-focused business language for C-level executives.
  • Travel: Ability to travel 25-50% for client meetings, site walkthroughs, and factory tests.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with specific SCADA platforms (Ignition, Siemens, Rockwell/Allen-Bradley).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices for OT (Operational Technology).
  • Proficiency in CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot).

Benefits

  • Competitive salary + commission.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401k with company match.
  • Professional development and training opportunities.
