Senior Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) - Data Center Networking (Apstra)

Location: anywhere in the U.S (Remote)

HPE is seeking a Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) to join our Data Center Networking organization, supporting Apstra, HPE's industry-leading intent-based data center automation platform.

Apstra simplifies the design, deployment, and lifecycle management of modern data center networks by allowing organizations to define their desired network intent while automating configuration, validation, and continuous operations. The platform enables customers to build highly reliable, scalable, and automated data center networks with confidence.

As a Technical Marketing Engineer, you will bridge the gap between Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, and the Field. This is a highly visible role that combines deep technical expertise with exceptional communication and content development skills. You'll create compelling technical content, develop demonstrations, deliver presentations, and enable customers, partners, and field teams to successfully position and adopt Apstra.

If you enjoy explaining complex technologies, building technical content, and influencing how innovative products are brought to market, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop technical enablement content, including presentations, solution guides, white papers, workshops, labs, and training materials.

  • Design, build, and maintain product demonstrations that showcase customer challenges, technical capabilities, and business outcomes.

  • Support field sales, systems engineering, and channel teams by providing technical expertise and creating customer-facing content.

  • Deliver presentations at customer meetings, internal enablement sessions, partner events, and industry conferences.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Marketing, and regional field organizations to support product launches and strategic initiatives.

  • Stay current on emerging technologies and industry trends in data center networking, automation, AI, and cloud infrastructure.

  • 8+ years of experience in Technical Marketing Engineering, Systems Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Technical Consulting, or a related customer-facing technical role.

  • Strong knowledge of modern data center networking technologies, including:

    • IP Fabrics

    • Spine-Leaf Architectures

    • BGP

    • EVPN/VXLAN

  • Hands-on experience with network automation using APIs, Python, Ansible, Terraform, or similar automation frameworks.

  • Experience presenting complex technical solutions to customers, partners, or field organizations.

  • Proven ability to build engaging product demonstrations that clearly communicate customer value and business outcomes.

Content Development & Communication

  • Experience creating high-quality technical content, including presentations, white papers, training materials, solution guides, and technical documentation.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong presentation skills with experience delivering technical content at customer meetings, conferences, workshops, or internal events.

  • Ability to develop compelling technical narratives that clearly communicate customer challenges, solutions, and business value.

Sales & Field Enablement

  • Experience supporting enterprise sales organizations through technical enablement, customer presentations, solution development, or RFP responses.

  • Understanding of enterprise technology sales cycles and customer buying processes.

  • Ability to effectively prioritize multiple field requests while balancing strategic initiatives and business priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with HPE Apstra or other intent-based networking platforms.

  • Knowledge of intent-based networking, model-driven automation, or software-defined networking technologies.

  • Experience with AI-assisted networking, agentic AI, or large language model (LLM) applications.

  • Python programming or software development experience.

  • Experience building automation tools, APIs, proof-of-concepts, or interactive demonstrations.

  • Familiarity with sales enablement platforms or content management systems.

  • Industry certifications such as JNCIA, JNCIS, JNCIP-DC, CCNP, CCIE, or equivalent data center networking certifications.
