General Description
The Director is responsible for overseeing the management and functioning of the Career Development Center to include administrative and clinical supervision of all profession staff, graduate interns, and student workers. The Director coordinates all career counseling to the University community; all departmental events, presentations, and programs. The Director oversees the coordination of Job Location and Development and works to build relationships with business and industry to help secure internships and jobs for students. The Director oversees budgeting, planning and assessment as well as partners with Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment, and administrative/academic departments to obtain student post graduation employment information. The Director serves as an official representative of the University and, as such, shall promote a positive first-impression by adopting and demonstrating a collegial, customer-service approach to students, parents, faculty, staff and other members of the University community.
Essential Job Duties
1. Coordinate and/or provide career counseling to University clients.
2. Oversee the coordination and promotion of departmental events on and off campus.
3. Develop, implement and promote programs to address specific student needs and issues.
4. Provide administrative and clinical supervision to all Career Development Center staff.
5. Train and supervise graduate interns; and oversee the supervision of student workers.
6. Oversee the coordination of the Job Location and Development program.
7. Builds relationships with business and industry leaders to secure internships and job for UM students as well as promote campus visits
8. Serve as a member of the University's Emergency Response Team
9. Oversee all departmental budgets and allocate funds according to need.
10. Develop and submit yearly unit plans and assessments reports based on outcome data.
11. Oversee and compile all assessment data and evaluation reports; compile all client data and track all client trends.
12. partners with Institutional Research, Planning and Assessment, and administrative/academic departments to obtain student post graduation employment information
13. Compile and submit a monthly report to the Dean of Students and participate in one-on-one meetings.
14. Continue professional development through active memberships, presentations and convention/conference/training events as possible.
15. Assist in developing positive relationships across the UM campus and community through class and organization presentations and faculty/staff consultation.
16. Coordinate needs assessments and evaluation of programs and services.
17. Oversee the content management and design of the Departmental website.
18. Assisting the Dean of Students with research including needs assessments and evaluation of programs and services.
19. Overseeing the coordination of Experiential Education and Alumni Mentoring
20. Serving as a liaison and University representative to community leaders, business and industry representatives, and UM alumni.
21. Serving on ESA and University assigned committees and assisting with ESA and University events and activities as needed.
22. Assisting in developing positive relationships across the UM campus and community through class and organization presentations and faculty/staff consultation.

Education and Experience
The educational requirement for this position is: Master's degree
Preferred fields include: Counseling, Education, Social Work or relevant field such as Marketing or Human Resources wherein building relationships with business and industry is an essential function.

This position requires: Experience providing career counseling and working with business and industry to secure internships and jobs for students in a college setting is required. Experience in a liberal arts setting is beneficial.
