Job description

The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Athletics Department is seeking a qualified and dynamic Assistant Athletic Director for Event Management. This position reports directly to the Deputy Athletics Director. The Assistant AD provides strategic leadership, administrative oversight, and comprehensive operational planning for all home athletic events, championships, and special events sponsored by Louisiana Athletics.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Strategic Leadership: Direct all aspects of game-day planning, execution, and post-event evaluation for all home athletic contests and postseason hosting opportunities.
-Personnel Management: Recruit, hire, train, and supervise full-time and part-time event management staff, graduate assistants, event interns, and student game-day personnel.
-Facility & Experience Management: Oversee the department's efforts regarding comprehensive facility game-day presentation and event way-finding signage to elevate the fan experience.
-Revenue & Logistics Support: Direct all game-day parking lot operations, tailgating logistics, and venue ingress/egress. Oversee the creation of clear, concise parking and venue seating maps to maximize customer experience and operational efficiency.
-Collaboration & Scheduling: Work collaboratively with sport administrators, head coaches, facility managers, and university scheduling entities to establish and manage the master athletics events calendar.
-External & Agency Coordination: Serve as the primary athletics liaison to campus and local law enforcement, emergency medical services, parking/transportation services, and physical plant operations to ensure comprehensive safety and event security plans.
-Compliance & Governance: Ensure strict implementation of and adherence to all University, Sun Belt Conference, and NCAA rules, regulations, and hosting minimums pertaining to game management activities.
-Credentialing & Access: Oversee the structural creation, security protocol, and distribution management of all game-day credentials and venue access control.
-Stakeholder Relations: Coordinate directly with conference office staff, game-day officials, and assignors to ensure all professional, hospitality, and regulatory needs are met.
-Visiting Team Relations: Oversee the compilation and dissemination of essential logistics to visiting teams, including the development of comprehensive Visiting Team Guides, maps, and security protocols.
-Educational Mission: Support the educational mission of the University by designing mentorship pipelines and professional development opportunities for students and young professionals seeking careers in sports administration.
-Fiscal Responsibility: Assist in the development, forecasting, and management of the event management operational budget.
-Departmental Representation: Serve as a visible ambassador of the University and its Athletics Department to all public entities, visiting dignitaries, and community partners.
-Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Athletics or supervising Associate AD.
