Department: Credit Analytical / Loan Review

Reports to: Credit Administration Manager

Supervises: None

Grade: 6

Summary: Assist the Credit Administration Manager in providing competent credit analysis and loan review for the commercial lending activities of the Bank. May periodically provide sound review for in-house residential mortgage loans made by the Bank.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Provides accurate information and sound judgments on the credit worthiness of assigned accounts to aid Commercial Loan Officers in granting loans. This entails analyzing and documenting financial data, along with analyzing financial statement ratios, collateral adequacy, future repayment ability, reading credit reports, and evaluating customer's management ability, history, and character.
  • Performs loan review for commercial loans after closing, predominately for lending relationships in a range of $500,000 to $2,500,000 in size. Assigns risk ratings for credit relationship in conformance with the Bank's 8 grade system.
  • May perform periodic analytical review for residential loans after closing.
  • Performs detailed appraisal reviews for large commercial real estate affiliated loans and residential real estate loans greater than $250,000 in transaction size; as well as an annual appraisal review for a sampling of the loans booked in a given year. At times may be required to attend appraisal review seminars and other appraisal related educational opportunities.
  • Monitors the current status and problems of assigned accounts and anticipates opportunities and problems which may arise. Brings significant problems to the attention of the loan officer with recommendations for remedial action.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager in preparing quarterly Substandard Reports in conjunction with loan officers.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager in preparing annual Loan Policy manual updates.
  • Attends Loan Committee and Director's Loan Committee meetings in order to prepare minutes for each meeting for Board of Directors submission.
  • Assists the Credit Administration Manager in the preparation of various reports for management, auditors, bank examiners and the Board of Directors.
  • Assists loan officers in determining loan rates to be used for existing and potential customers through the utilization of the Bank's pricing model software.
  • Assist auditors and examiners during annual visits.
  • Assists in the training of Credit Analysts.
  • Assists in the training and mentor of Bank Interns in the Analytical Department.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.

Requirements


  • Associate's degree or higher in accounting, finance, agribusiness or related field.
  • Ability to analyze financials and other business related documentation.
  • Strong banking compliance knowledge.
  • Strong loan documentation knowledge.
  • Strong computer skills (Excel, Word).
  • Knowledge of USPAP rules and regulations (Appraisal Review)
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Familiarity with farm-level agricultural production and economics preferred.
  • 5+ years of banking or related experience preferred.
