Job description

As GFT continues to grow and expand, we are seeking an Aviation/Civil Design Engineer to support our Transportation group in our Ebensburg, PA office. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance after proper mentorship.

What you'll be challenged to do:
The Aviation/Civil Design Engineer's primary role will be to support the design for GFT's Aviation and Civil clients. Design opportunities include Aviation Design, pavement design, drainage and grading improvements, construction management, stormwater design, municipal engineering, and other aspects connected to Aviation and Civil work. You'll engage in meaningful mentorship and professional development as you build a successful career.
The work you'll do:
  • Participate in planning, design, bidding and construction of civil infrastructure for clients such as Airports, power/utility companies, municipalities, etc.
  • Prepare engineering design drawings, sketches, and layouts using an array of software platforms.
  • Work in a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Prepare material quantity and cost estimates.
  • Provide technical writing input to proposals, feasibility studies, design criteria and other reports/memorandums.
  • Attend internal and external meetings with the team.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage workload on various projects simultaneously.
  • Initiative to undertake tasks efficiently and independently.

What you'll bring to our firm:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
  • 3-10 years of experience in civil site design or transportation engineering projects.
  • Demonstrated interest in civil/site, aviation or related transportation engineering field through applied academic coursework, prior internships, or work experiences.
  • Demonstrated experience with CAD or similar drafting software.
  • Demonstrated experience with MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint).
  • Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, self-starter, demonstrated organization skills, team player, and willingness to learn.

What we prefer you bring:
  • An Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineering (PE) certification.
  • Prior experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Autodesk Civil 3D, and stormwater software.
  • Experience in preparing detailed design contract drawings and packages.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $110,000 - $135,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
