What is an internship athletic conference?

An Internship Athletic Conference is a program or opportunity where students or recent graduates intern with an athletic conference organization. These conferences are governing bodies that organize and oversee athletic competitions among member schools or colleges, such as the NCAA or regional high school associations. Interns may gain hands-on experience in sports administration, event management, marketing, compliance, and media relations. This type of internship is valuable for those interested in pursuing careers in sports management or athletics administration, as it provides exposure to the inner workings of a large sports organization.

What do interns do at an athletic conference?

As an intern at an athletic conference, you can expect to assist with event planning and execution, support communications and marketing initiatives, manage social media content, and help with compliance documentation. Interns often collaborate with staff across departments, gaining exposure to operations, media relations, and community engagement. The role is dynamic, offering hands-on experience during athletic events and behind-the-scenes administrative work, making it a valuable stepping stone for a career in sports management or administration.
